Remember when Delta had 727’s BOS-BGR (as well as 757’s BOS-PWM)?

The 747 is unique in every way. There is no questioning from afar what kind of plane you are looking at. The 777 - to most of the world (not us) could be a 787, 767, 757, 737, A320, A330, A350, etc. There’s just nothing about it that commands or demands a moniker. Perhaps the 787 comes closest becau...

None of these I miss for the stellar service. More about the regional characteristics.
JFK is certainly a prime example of an airport with terminals built for/ by specific airlines. Certainly hub airports have massive footrprints for the dominating carrier. But they aren’t necessarily distinctive terminals. (No one says, “I’m flying out of the Delta terminal” at Atlanta.) I think of l...

In 1993 or 1994, I flew JFK-ORY-TLV on a Delta 767. Same plane service, though we had to deplane in Paris.
It was a cheep economy fare and it cost 20k miles to upgrade JFK-TLV.
In 1982, I flew a TW flight BOS-STL. I remember the overhead bins were open, just shelves. Was this a 707, or did the 727’s also have open shelves?

I would think that the short hop should be a 5th freedom, to take advantage of being able to sell tickets on the short route.
If EI flew DUB-YVR-PDX-DUB, I would be first in line to take the VYR-PDX leg.
At one point in the 2000’s, UA had a one way SNA-LAX flight. Did it once and loved it. And just a couple of years ago, I did the AS milk run from Juneau to Seattle, including one leg (Wrangle to Petersburg I think) that was about 12 minutes of flight time. In the 80’s, many carriers had MIA-FLL flig...

I remember looking closely at PIT on a map back in the early 80’s. Geographically, it made so much sense as a hub. You could connect north/ south and east west, Midwest-south and south/west - all without going all that much out of your way. It was just that much more strategically located than Cleve...

The current pandemic got me thinking. What other times have you had to cancel a long anticipated trip and for what reason? I had to cancel my first Concord trip because my supervisor broke his back, and I had to step in. I had to cancel the final United 747 because my husband was hit by a car. For t...
