It is a fantastic expansion from WestJet. YYC also increasing to 4x weekly which is welcome (it has performed well in 2023). YHZ is a welcome addition - very much thinking of booking a trip later this year. Also rumours of another announcement re new routes on the way... watch this space I guess...

United Cargo does indeed show UA161/2 (the old GLA flight numbers) returning from 25th May. However it shows it as a second daily flight EWR-EDI. Do not believe that awful article. The A350 was at the gate and it was run into by a ground vehicle damaging the engine cowling. I believe there is a Qatar C17 on the way to EDI now with a replacement engine cowling. A 773 came in yesterday to pick up some of the passengers from the cancelled flight...

I wonder if VS have considered the A321N (the XLR version) for some of the thinner TATL routes which could include MAN?

Or will they just rely on DL for that. DL’s BOS-EDI route on the 757 was relatively successful before the pandemic.

The order started at 36, then 15 more options were taken, now 6 more are added which brings the total firm orders to 57.

Great news for UA and Airbus. I’ve certainly noticed a fair few 757s go tech at EDI recently and we rely on them for our links to EWR, IAD and ORD. They have given great service but it is perhaps time they were replaced. I hate this AvB nonsense but for anyone to try and claim that this is good news...

Also I expect next summer that Delta or United will upgauge the aircraft to a B767 or B777 on the New York route as loads have been extremely good at over 90% full. Be realistic, they wont put a wide body on any Edinburgh route, the flights aren't full as it is and putting the likes of a 777 on one...
