Probably the best trip report you have written so far. It would be good if you could include a few photos now and then, especially helicopters.Jump to post
Not fly, but my family sailed by ship in 1969 from Nigeria to England. At Monrovia, President Tubman of Liberia joined the ship and as my parents were in First Class, they got to meet him. I did fly Bulawayo to Harare in an Air Zimbabwe 737-200 with then Vice-President Joshua Nkomo. He was so big he...Jump to post
SAA had to take the long way round to Europe as they weren't allowed to fly over most African countries. I took the non-stop LHR-JNB 'around the bulge' of West Africa in 742 but I think they also had TLV and ATH via the Mediterranian and around the bulge. The majority of flights stopped at least on...Jump to post
LHR-PRG-SVO-ALA-KBL Ariana Afghan Airways, the LHR-PRG sector they chartered a CSA Tu-134, the rest was Ariana's Tu-154. From KBL, most pax were transit to Delhi or Amritar. They got us to board one plane, then when in the air the announced that the Amritsar pax would be given train tickets (overnig...Jump to post
I’m wondering if one should avoid airlines like this not just because of the crew inattention but the stupidity of the passengers too. It’s interesting to note the difference in passengers by airline and destination and their behaviour. Maybe I will start a thread on it. I’m wondering if one should...Jump to post
Ah ok also I changed the thread because there was already a thread for it Thread title as written makes no sense: "Will after ever get..."? I totally agree with you.......I think that the thread title should be changed again by the OP as it's worded terribly! Why don't people bother to re...Jump to post
Here in Western Australia it's generally referred to in the media as a near death experience and they find passengers to interview who thought they were going to die.Jump to post
China's already onto this, but first using single engine cargo aircraft in remote areas. I suspect they may end up ahead of the rest of the world, not least because they don't have unions who would fight it. https://www.janes.com/article/86057/china-s-at200-cargo-uav-readies-for-operational-evaluationJump to post
Any idea which London airport they intend to fly to? Probably Biggin given the amount of passengers. :lol: Really, where is the money coming from to finance this crackpot idea. Huge Nigerian population in London. They will get pax if they offer good baggage allowance. People take a lot of stuff hom...Jump to post
Some 20 years ago I flew Royal Wings (Royal Jordanian) Dash 8 Q300 from Amman's city airport, Marka (OJAM) to Aqaba (OJAQ) but it stopped at Queen Alia (OJAI) airport to pickup international connections. I was the only pax for the 10 min flight. I wanted to stay on board in transit but the FA insist...Jump to post
Why would anyone think it's an April Fools joke? There's a clear link posted. Not funny at all as they obviously need capacity.Jump to post
I know some of you are wishing and hoping DY go under. it’s just sad. I hope they stick around for a long time. This generation now a days is just so negative about everything. I actually think this group of very vocal, very negative, cantankerous gits poisoning this site must actually be a gang of...Jump to post

Thanks for reporting this and making us aware of it. We'll look into it and try to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Another Max.Thats what happens when an airline rapidly expands and is in a country that is poverty stricken.Poor maintenance,pilot error or training. Wow, just wow, please don't let your prejudices hold you back there. Thoughts with those who have lost their lives on this flight. Investigators and ...Jump to post
when will this safety failure of an airline be shut down already? When will someone shut down the posters who blame the airline without any knowledge. Just look at the tropical down-poor. Then consider that the RUNWAY may have had a lot to do with it. Of course, people in western countries always a...Jump to post

NTSB is taking DNA blood who did it.
Another EXCELLENT report, as always. Thank you.Jump to post
Kalstar still operate E-190s I think. There are Sukhoi Superjets of aviation just rotting in Indonesia. Very sad. I suspect the demonstrator crash there didn't help. Don't forget there are quite a few turboprops flying around, including Garuda and Wings ATR-72s.Jump to post
I always enjoy your reports. Would love to see the occasional photo of the helicopters, inside and out though.Jump to post
Well done for shutting down S3. Health and Safety first!Jump to post

I bet someone slams them as heartless and uncaring. Cue the wailing in 3,2,1. And People for Eating Tasty Animals accuses them of Chicken Murder! lol Totally heartless and uncaring! Why shouldn't people bring their kangaroo, pig, pony, peacock, turkey on board (just a few of the ES animals I've hea...Jump to post
Thank you for posting with photos! Interesting, BD flight numbers used to be British Midland in UK. Flight aware shows last BD111 flight as LHR-AMS in 1999!Jump to post

Planes are going to be camera’d up for evidence purposes soon enough and should be equipped with a holding area in the belly of the plane. I flew China Southern recently, long haul. They announced a not tolerance policy to misbehaviour during pre-flight announcements, and stated that there would be...Jump to post
Not so different from the Air Botswana ATR-42 which was stolen and crashed, though that was a pilot and he destroyed most of the fleet on the ground at Gaborone airport.

How could you still like Marmite after moving to the land of Vegemite? I was brought up on Marmite, but now I take Vegemite with me when I go to UK!!! Anyway, would really like to hear about the Delta standby pass. Always wanted to do this with Eastern or another airline. Would have been fantastic. ...Jump to post
Great approach to a trip report. What could have been incredibly boring turned out to be refreshing and funny! More like this please! Have you thought of NOT flying first class and having a great meal in a restaurant before or after the flight. Or, simply buying a year's supply of cookies and a coup...Jump to post
Perhaps airbus should focus on building a widebody aircraft that actually sells first.
Right now in the SYD area, the average temps are in the upper 60Fs in the daytime and in the morning in the 50Fs. I see people bundled up like they are in Chicago in January, while I am wearing a long sleeve shirt. People in this area of the world do not know how to handle temp changes without over...Jump to post
I used to fly from Johannesburg in late '70s and '80s. No airbridges than.
DC-10s of SN, SR, KL, UT, AZ;
747-200s of SA, BA, SK LY(?), TP;
747SP SA, Luxavia;
L-1011-500 TP (I think before bridges).
I am sure there were more.
Hi folks, Hope it is relevant forum. Just to share my small jubilee - types I've used to fly have rized up to 100 ;) Join with your lists :) Поздравления! Congratulations! I have to ask a question though. Are TU-154B and TU-154M, or BAe-146-200 and RJ-85 really separate types? I generally go on maj...Jump to post
I couldn't see this posted anywhere else. An Air India Boeing 787 hit severe turbulence on a domestic flight yesterday. Video and photos in this link show an inner window panel fell out. Best thing I've seen all day! Well done!
I'm on the inaugural flight from London to Perth, so you'll be able to fly the entire route virtually from the comfort of your home once I've uploaded a 17 hour video to YouTube of course :D Big Jet TV are also filming the departure from LHR live, and I'll be live at points throughout the flight :)...Jump to post
If the precious and very heavy cargo on this An-12 was not properly secured, and the aircraft was climbing out with an unsecured load hurtling towards the rear, perhaps having it crash through the rear cargo door was a preferable outcome to it remaining on board and causing a massive cg problem, in...Jump to post
Can I also request more economy reports too, I've noticed a shift to C/F in the trip report genre and would like to see some experiences in cattle and not just how the other half live (though I don't mind reading those too) I think SOME people think others will be impressed if they travel C/F. Well done! This is long overdue. In some cases, it's clearly clickbait from members hoping to earn some money from views of poorly edited rubbish done on a Go-pro and some frustratingly random, distracting music that the person happens to like. Other times, they don't even bother to edit and think p...Jump to post

Long ago, flew Swissair DC-10-30 Johannesburg to Zurich via Kinshasa (Then Zaire, now Congo). Crew brought around champagne (in economy) at midnight South African time.
