Was just monitoring KJFK tower and heard an arrival with the call-sign "Tammi 5 5 0 Heavy"....i checked flightaware and saw nothing that matched. Pilot was foreign...a/c was an A330. Any ideas?

Seems like the combined events of 9/11 and AA 587 expedited the end of the A300 particularly the latter as AA and Airbus relations soured quickly over the cause of the crash.

I remember AV 052 as it crashed close to where I grew up on Long Island. They made two missed approaches and ultimately ran out of fuel after a series of miscues between ATC and the pilots crashing into a desolate area.
