Who thinks the thread should be renamed ? Maybe not the "USA threat", but at least something more neutral, pointing out the USA is doing all the sabre rattling ? You don’t view Iran attacking oil tankers and a Saudi oil pipeline as sabre rattling? Interesting. Sad to see Americans already...Jump to post

The FAA is going to rubber stamp the software upgrade no matter what. I hope China and Europe go through proper certification process. I also hope fellow A-neters stay off the " but the pilot wasn't white, couldn't happen here" bandwagon during the next crash. That was truly disgusting.Jump to post
I agree 100% with you on this, there is no way I am buying a car without sitting in one first. Which when it comes to the Model 3, I have done, in fact i'm picking one up tonight, fantastic car. I just had the first serivce done to my model 3. The turn signal stalk was finicky from the factory. A technician changed it in my driveway. You must have had a really old 3 series, the Tesla handles poorly, my A6 Avant is a more comfortable and better handling car than the Tesla 2018 340i. It was a really fun car. Both the BMW and my Tesla model 3 are quick, handle well and have com...Jump to post
Americann made but not American cars. Tesla’s aren’t cars they are appliances. So American made Mercedes and BMW SUVs won't be subject to a higher tariff on entry to the EU because they're German right? That's right... They're American. I assure you my Tesla is a real car. Lower volume vehicles (That's not mass production)
Olddog wrote:And a 25 % tax on Tesla cars would be welcomed by Germans manufacturers
Though, in the grand scheme of things, we don't ship mass production vehicles overseas. Easier to build the plant where you want to sell them these days. Honda is closing their UK plant and will ship cars from Japan to Europe. GM makes most of their trucks in Mexico don't they? In general I agree w...Jump to post
Europe smacks 10% on our cars, we only slap 2.5% on theirs. Maybe Europe should be paying another 7.5%. Or maybe neither should pay a tarriff and we can call it free trade instead of screw the US trade. Just a thought. I’m guessing Europe wants to keep the screw the US trade agreements going. I would consider closing all the German car manufacturing facilities in the USA. See if Trump is happy about the lose of jobs. Obviously it will never happen but it would be funny to see that suggestion. Btw: The biggest exporter of cars from the USA today is...... BMW. https://247wallst.com/autos/...Jump to post

Buying new cars off the lot is actually a financially unwise move. We all love new cars, but it's a ruinous personal finance action. Certified pre-owned is really the way to go. Or leasing, but I'd run the numbers on that first. Buying used can be cheaper but that doesn't make buying new a ruinous ...Jump to post

I wonder how much of that 4 billion in subsidies they'll get to keep. You're clearly having a hard time understanding how tax credits work. It's not a direct $ or % per employee credit. Much of the tax credits are tied directly to investment dollars spent on the facility. Investment in Chinese mach...Jump to post
Taking off my political allegiance hat here, I don't see why anyone would actually think building TV's in the US could be cheaper than doing them overseas. Maybe for big time drug traffickers. Executing dealers would be a very slippery slope. Are you going to execute firearms dealers who sold a gun used in a murder? Hence why this is more a PR thing than something EU car makers worry about. You cannot tax cars which are made in the US. It's not that simple. Americans do love their fairy tales. A gun in every hand will stop violence. Iraq was a imminent threat to the US. You can force a democracy on to another country.
