FedEx DC-10 fleet

FX was supposed to retire their remaining 8 DC/MD-10s by the end of the year. N318FE ferried to VCV on December 30th. However, 5 are at MEM while two are at IND. I’ve also heard they may keep them through Q1 2023.

100 787s would cover the 767-300s, 767-400s, 777-200A and Pratt Powered 777-200ERs. The 767-400s will probably be the last of the group to be retired, around 2030 when the turn 30, with the 767-300s and 777-200A's being the first. The gray makes sense from a practical standpoint. I read somewhere that it was done that way so the bulk of the aircraft still matched the rest of the fleet, in terms of maintenance. I think the easy option is to talk to GE and PW to see if they can make one of the current 767 engines pass the newer emission standards.
