I flew on SunExpress last year AYT-BER and they are definitely LCC. From memory it’s completely BoB, however the prices must have been ok as I remember buying something. Also there were lots of complaints online about the legroom so I paid extra for a bulkhead seat (not very much extra though) and r...
Jump to postVA have loaded their first domestic MAX 8 routes. https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/230327-va7m8 Any idea on the product / livery these planes will feature? I'd guess VA would probably install the J recliners and Y seats currently trialled on two of the ex-SilkAir/SQ 738 units onto the 737-8 MAX fleet...
Jump to postHello Charlotters. I am excited to visit CLT for the first time this week en route from MEL to LHR (the long way round) with QF/AA. Maybe you can help with a question I've long had about CLT – why do the apron areas between A & B and C & D not have any taxiway markings from the gates to the ...
Jump to postTonight's (UK time) QF2 has been delayed almost 13 hours until 0900 tomorrow, although QF1 operated in as normal this morning (VH-OQH). Anyone know the reason? LHR has been messy the last two days due to mist, but I wouldn't think that's the reason for this, and also it's pretty much cleared I think.
Jump to postI lived in Israel for almost three years and never experienced air raid sirens once, so you're kind of "lucky" to get that experience! (Not so lucky for the Gazans..) Totally get the frustration when a window seat is yanked from you, the arrival into TLV is usually pretty cool too. We shou...
Jump to postThanks very much for this report as I'm flying on an AA 77W LHR-LAX soon and was looking for detailed reviews. I had to swap out a BA A380 for the 77W in order to have a safe connection in LAX but you're certainly lowering my expectations for the flight.. 11 hours with that legroom isn't particularl...

Jump to postWonder how quickly they can get a replacement crew to ATH. And can a 380 fly direct to SYD or will they still stop in SIN? The same crew and aircraft will continue on to LHR once crew have rested, and they won’t need to position the aircraft back to SYD, it will operate QF2 from LHR. Ah thanks, for...
Jump to postQF1 SIN-LHR on VHOQJ 3rd of January has diverted ATH due to medical reasons not engineering issues according to news reports. It was due to a critical medical issue with a passenger. Crew hours timed out unfortunately. A very unfortunate event where hopefully the passengers health improves It notes...
Jump to postAs mentioned South Africa is not party to US or EU sanctions on Iran, so there was no legal reason to stop this. You’d think though that at some point people in the relevant authorities would have twigged to what was going on and run it up the chain, and somewhere a decision may have been made not t...
Jump to postThanks for the TR. That was quite the feast in the LAX Flagship lounge. Interesting that the menu featured British terms ("chips" for fries and "rocket" for arugula). That's because it is a Qantas lounge and Australian English generally uses the same terminology as British Engli...
Jump to postI was just perusing FR24 and it struck me that Ryanair does not serve Tirana, and thought it was interesting as there is a large Albanian diaspora across Western Europe and in key Ryanair markets like the UK and Italy. But then looking at Ryanair’s Wikipedia, I see they also don’t serve nearby North...
Jump to postNice and unique report! Thanks! Very nice and interesting trip report, thanks for sharing! For your first trip report, it turned out great. I'm blushing I love trip reports like this. Cool to see parts of the world you don't normally get to experience. Too bad about the seatmate. Cheers! Loved your...
Jump to postInterestingly, this has happened exactly on the 22-year anniversary of a hypoxia event in Australia which saw an aircraft cross almost the entire country before running out of fuel and crashing: https://aviation-safety.net/database/re ... 20000904-0
Jump to post**new post with visible pics – thanks to classicjets and atcsundevil for the help!** Hello, Welcome to my first ever trip report! I've been reading this forum since I was a teen and have often planned on doing trip reports but then once the flight rolled around, was too lazy to take photos. I forgot...

You mean apart from Norwegian, Scoot, Air Asia X and Air Canada Rouge?
Thanks for this review. I love reviews of extinct airlines, especially US.
What were they like to fly with, service-wise?
Wizzair seems to have suspended its flights from Budapest to Nur-Sultan until May 31, when they are scheduled to recommence at twice weekly. Since the war in Ukraine started the flight seems to have been operating once every two weeks or less, and via Kutaisi in Georgia. But now the Wizzair schedule...
Jump to postEmirates has now announced this route will commence on June 23. Same aircraft and basically the same timing. The release emphasises the cargo capacity as well. I don't believe there are any dedicated freighters on the route currently, and the other airlines are flying narrowbodies AFAIK. http://wam....
Jump to postCongrats on your first trip report.
An interesting airline.
I also used Tegel's terminal C just before the pandemic, it is an extremely underwhelming experience. Or was.
Sad though that the main terminal is out of use, it was very overcrowded but also unique.
Great report, looks like an amazing place for a holiday.
Good to see the luggage trailer set up. It was like that in Launceston up until maybe 2006/7ish and I miss the fun of everyone scrambling over the trailers to get their bags.
Not sure that TK will hurt as much. They still carry quite a bit of traffic from North America to Israel, and presumably some from Israel to Europe. EK will not compete for those passengers. The India and Southeast Asia routes is where they will compete. What about Israel to Australia and New Zeala...
Jump to postIf indeed there was no issue with the flight during the first approach and the pilot flying had some sort of fixation with landing despite the unstable approach, it reminds me a bit of Garuda Flight 200: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garuda_Indonesia_Flight_200 The key NTSC finding is that the aircr...
Jump to postFor those of u who may think that Iranian government took part in this sad crash, Can you tell me why they hit a plane from a foreign country with a lot of Iranian pax on ir, and a country with no issues against them? It could be plausible If the plane were American,Saudi Arabian.... The most impor...
Jump to postDoes anyone know why China Eastern/Shanghai Airlines MU738 was nine hours late departing MEL yesterday?
It taxied, on time, almost to the threshold of the runway before going back to the gate and sitting there until 9pm.

Weird that they’re not launching Sydney flights as they have more tourist and business potential. Is the Jewish population higher in MEL versus SYD!? Yes the Jewish community in Melbourne is larger. Also LY codeshare with QF, an agreement I assume will be updated to include some QF domestic legs fr...
Jump to postEl Al is apparently going to test flights from TLV to MEL early in the new year, subject to regulatory approvals. Presumably with a 789 (the article doesn't specify the variant). They say it's about 16hr 45m to MEL and 17hr 45m return. I imagine slightly longer for having to scoot down the Red Sea (...

Jump to postWas just browsing FR24 and noticed that several flights to SYD have diverting to MEL after holding near Sydney for a while, which also seems to be causing congestion in MEL. The METAR looks okay except for smoke, is that the issue?
Jump to postHello, I tried searching for previous topics on this and did a bit of Googling but didn't find anything... What role does the A351 play in BA's fleet? Some thoughts: - It brings BA's long haul fleet type count to 5 (4 when the 747 goes), but I thought generally speaking it is more efficient to focus...

Surprised anyone from outside Israel would voluntarily listen to Eyal Golan.

Thank you so so much for this report. It's terrific to get such a detailed report from almost 20 years ago on an airline I can barely remember. I hope you enjoyed watching "CNN.dot.com." Hehe. Although in other respects the experience looked surprisingly modern. The only time I flew with A...

Jump to postWeird about those footrests - I just did QF1 and there were definitely none in my row (on the lower deck) - also all the seat around us were broken in that you had to bash the button several times to get the seat to 'hold' and not fall all the way back. Did you have that problem? I was a bit skeptic...
Jump to postThanks so much for this report! Fascinating from start to finish.
That food looks amazing.
From what I heard in Uzbekistan last year from travellers who'd dashed across Turkmenistan from Iran, it is indeed desperately poor, with legions of old ladies sweeping empty 8 lane highways etc.
"Not to be political but if I'm of Palestinian descent I'm not flying an airline full of people who generally don't like me or my people." Actually you are being political. Very political. And very stereotypical. I'm not being political, I'm being realistic. Do you think any Jewish person...
Jump to postA very brief playback on FR24 seems to show fluctuations in vertical speed just after take-off.
Jump to postThanks for the throwback report.
2007 doesn't seem like that long ago - but there you have SQ 747s and even a QF 747-300!
One minor correction: Virgin Blue started flying in early 2000, I think, a year or so before Ansett collapsed.
Yet another case of a fatal plane crash with only one survivor: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_s ... _incidents
I know nothing about statistics but this does seem slightly strange. Last such incident was only in May, the Cubana de Aviación crash in Havana.
As an Australian the idea of Bali kind of bores me, but oh my God that food......... I am salivating.
Jump to postAlso worth noting that casinos are illegal in Israel. I know (from friends) that a lot of Israelis seek out casinos when on holiday. Jump to postInteresting to see an LY report, thanks.
"Palestinian missile crisis" is a term I haven't heard before to describe the regular Hamas-Israel wars. I laughed.
Wild pricing for MEL-DOH. You wouldn't think there'd be a huge amount of direct traffic on that route. So interesting to see a RJ 788 diversion to Aqaba! Amazing scenery down there. Not surprised at the AMM experience. Before it was reconstructed a few years ago it was a serious hellhole (like one s...
Jump to postThanks for this report. SYD-TPE on CI was the first ever intl flight I took so I have a soft spot for it. In Y+ on the A350 looks great!
Why bother paying for Y+ if you're going to be in a coma for the entire flight and not use any of the amenities/food etc?!? (re weird people you took the photo of)
