The red smear behind the hole has a very similar color to hydraulic fluid. Does anybody familiar with A321 engineering know if hydraulic lines run through this area? It seems a bit high on the fuselage to me for hydraulic lines, but I'm not an aviation engineer.

Does anybody know if the position of the door lock switch in the cockpit is recorded in the FDR? If it is, I'm not sure that the exact details will ever be made public, but investigators or airline regulators are probably very interested in how the switch was used in this flight.

I would think that pilots would go through emergency checklists before simulating an engine failure in training. It may seem obvious, but lowering landing gear should be in the emergency landing (or standard landing) checklist.
