Thank you Karl, Kas and Harry for your replies! Do panning shots take skill? Certainly; but skill alone isn't enough to categorise something as truly creative. Creativity is as much about the mind as it is about the physical skill. Creativity is taking something regular and turning it into a piece o...
Jump to postHi all, I have been uploading under the creative shot category for quite some time now, and most, if not all of my shots under this category are nighttime panning shots taken around ISO 1000 and at a shutter speed of around 1/4 seconds. I had no problem in the past, apart from some shots being "...
Jump to postThe OZ 777 does seem oversharpened, especially towards the rear where there are jaggies appearing on the fuselage outline. However, I don't see any noise or compression. Regarding the KE 748, I think it is fine. I'm surprised it got rejected for soft, because I thought it looked more on the sharp si...
Jump to postThe windows on the fuselage (especially towards the front) look soft to me. However, I do not see much noise.

No worries Kas. Will try another edit later. I remain hopeful in thinking I can get it accepted. Here's another featuring compression. http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/7/6/8/4529867.jpg?v=v4bef712fd5e Rejected for 'Blurry Compression Soft Low Contrast High Contrast Noise' Blurry - I do...
Jump to postThe KLM 789 looks grainy in the sky, but otherwise it is passable for me. By the way, where in Beijing Capital did you take that shot?
Cheers,

Thanks Harry, Julien and Kas for the quick reply! Edited the photo according to your suggestions, tweaked the exposure and left the horizontal stabiliser in. Besides, did u take this one in Beijing Capital Airport ? because the background is familiar to me. Yes indeed! Here's another one that got re...
Jump to postBoth edits of the KE 744 look passable to me. Agree with Kas that the Delta still needs CCW rotation, while the front of the jet is slightly oversharpened. The bottom of the plane seems a bit hazed actually? Judging from the original, I do not think the bottom of the plane is heat hazed. However, th...
Jump to postVS A330 looks high in contrast to me, while the centering looks okay. WN 738 has a somewhat high contrast. Jump to postHi all, I recently got this photo rejected for soft and low contrast: http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/3/9/9/4505993.jpg?v=v420d0b4c76d Is it really soft? Ahh, now I understand. Thanks Miguel! I agree that it is not low in frame, in fact, I think it is slightly on the higher side of the frame. Regarding the low contrast part, the wheels are dark enough, but I have gotten this rejection a few times when the background is slightly hazy or if the lighting is flat, which seems to be the case ...
Jump to postAgree with JK on the grainy sky for the 787. The A319 and A320 need some CCW rotation, and the A320 also has a grainy sky.

Etihad seems soft to me, and it seems slightly overexposed due to the glare. Delta Connection doesn't seem soft, but there is vignette, especially on the right side of the frame.

Hi Julien, Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the double upload rule on airshows applicable only to air-to-ground shots? "For air-to-ground airshow, boneyard, and airport overviews, we accept both a wide view and closer crops of each of the aircraft visible in the wider view." That being ...

I think the American Eagle could use some lightening on the shadows as it seems a little toplit. As for motive, it really is subjective. Personally, I would find that metallic pole distracting, but considering that there were similar shots accepted, you could try again.
