Thank you Karl, Kas and Harry for your replies! Do panning shots take skill? Certainly; but skill alone isn't enough to categorise something as truly creative. Creativity is as much about the mind as it is about the physical skill. Creativity is taking something regular and turning it into a piece o...Jump to post
Hi all, I have been uploading under the creative shot category for quite some time now, and most, if not all of my shots under this category are nighttime panning shots taken around ISO 1000 and at a shutter speed of around 1/4 seconds. I had no problem in the past, apart from some shots being "...Jump to post
The OZ 777 does seem oversharpened, especially towards the rear where there are jaggies appearing on the fuselage outline. However, I don't see any noise or compression. Regarding the KE 748, I think it is fine. I'm surprised it got rejected for soft, because I thought it looked more on the sharp si...Jump to post
The windows on the fuselage (especially towards the front) look soft to me. However, I do not see much noise.
No worries Kas. Will try another edit later. I remain hopeful in thinking I can get it accepted. Here's another featuring compression. http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/7/6/8/4529867.jpg?v=v4bef712fd5e Rejected for 'Blurry Compression Soft Low Contrast High Contrast Noise' Blurry - I do...Jump to post
The KLM 789 looks grainy in the sky, but otherwise it is passable for me. By the way, where in Beijing Capital did you take that shot?
Thanks Harry, Julien and Kas for the quick reply! Edited the photo according to your suggestions, tweaked the exposure and left the horizontal stabiliser in. Besides, did u take this one in Beijing Capital Airport ? because the background is familiar to me. Yes indeed! Here's another one that got re...Jump to post
Both edits of the KE 744 look passable to me. Agree with Kas that the Delta still needs CCW rotation, while the front of the jet is slightly oversharpened. The bottom of the plane seems a bit hazed actually? Judging from the original, I do not think the bottom of the plane is heat hazed. However, th...Jump to post
VS A330 looks high in contrast to me, while the centering looks okay. WN 738 has a somewhat high contrast. The UA A320 seems neither soft nor underexposed, while the FI 753 does seem OS on the titles and somewhat blurry/soft towards the rear. The Ethiopian doesn't look flat at all, but I think I'm s...Jump to post
Hi all, I have had this rejection for some time now: Rejected for motive (horizontal stabilizer clipped), noise and underexposed after some second opinions: http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/7/8/6/4499687.jpg?v=v4a4a3bfc8bd Regarding the motive rejection, wouldn't it be acceptable to cro...Jump to post
Agree with Kas on this one. Maybe a little grainy in the shadows, but that would be nitpicking.

Hi all, I recently got this photo rejected for soft and low contrast: http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/3/9/9/4505993.jpg?v=v420d0b4c76d Is it really soft? I'm afraid of sharpening the fuselage as I am already seeing jaggies appear there. And the landing gear seems black enough to me. An...Jump to post

I don't think the Continental Retro is blurry, but it is soft around the windows. Regarding the United 772, the fuselage area around the titles look slightly blown out.
Ahh, now I understand. Thanks Miguel! Two more questions: regarding the DC-8, would a closeup of the engines be considered double? http://i68.tinypic.com/bgbkn5.jpg Also to be sure, would these pairs of shots taken during an airshow be considered double as well? 2783100 http://i68.tinypic.com/aujrjc...Jump to post

I agree that it is not low in frame, in fact, I think it is slightly on the higher side of the frame. Regarding the low contrast part, the wheels are dark enough, but I have gotten this rejection a few times when the background is slightly hazy or if the lighting is flat, which seems to be the case ...Jump to post
Agree with JK on the grainy sky for the 787. The A319 and A320 need some CCW rotation, and the A320 also has a grainy sky.Jump to post
Air France's colour seems okay, though it is overexposed at the nose and slightly oversharpened at the titles. Air Canada seems fine to me.
Etihad seems soft to me, and it seems slightly overexposed due to the glare. Delta Connection doesn't seem soft, but there is vignette, especially on the right side of the frame.
Hi Julien, Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the double upload rule on airshows applicable only to air-to-ground shots? I'd say it needs more contrast and sharpening on the fuselage. Agree with Julien that fuselage looks blown out.
I think the American Eagle could use some lightening on the shadows as it seems a little toplit. As for motive, it really is subjective. Personally, I would find that metallic pole distracting, but considering that there were similar shots accepted, you could try again.Jump to post
QR 777F: Grainy sky
SZ A320: Front portion of windows a little soft
TG A330: Seems okay
CUA 738: A little overexposed, otherwise okay

TK 77W: A tad overexposed, grainy sky
SH 767: Reddish cast, grainy sky
CZ B-2736: A little overexposed
Thank you Harry and Kas for your help. I decided to try some other panning shots I had, and I just hit my 500th!
Guess the above shots will stay in my personal collection.
Hi all, It's been quite a frustrating few days, having run into several blurry rejections: Rejected for blurry and quality: http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/7/7/1/4407177.jpg?v=v495f5fbe9df Rejected for blurry, oversharpened and quality: http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/1/7...Jump to post
I would say that this shot is oversharpened and grainy. In addition. there are halos around the wing area.
Hi everyone, just had another rejection: http://cdn-www.airliners.net/photos/airliners/1/9/4/4153491.jpg?v=v4c9f2e14e78 was done for oversharpened, common, noisy. Personally I can't see the oversharpening and it doesn't particularly noisy to me, therefore I am looking for some feedback. Thanks, Jul...Jump to post
Crop is generally fine, though I'd prefer a slightly wider crop on the right side. Unless I zoom in, the flap on the right side seems to be slightly chopped off (even though it technically isn't).Jump to post
