I flew on New York Air between NY/NJ and BOS in the 80s when I was in college. I liked them, and their airplanes always seemed clean. I liked Piedmont too. PeoplExpress and Eastern, not so much. NY Air had a catchy jingle too!

I'd pick any itinerary into LGA over EWR or JFK. Just so much closer to the city if you're planning to take a cab. 2nd choice would be JFK because you can still take the Airtrain/subway if you're on a budget. Take the E from Jamaica to 7th Ave/53rd which is only a few blocks from the Hudson Hotel.
