I love the 'mascots' that some airline have. The Crevette-Hippocampe, for Air France. The SpeedBird, for BA. The Icaro, for Varig. The Maharajah, for Air India...etc.. Sadly, most of these symbols are slowly disappearing!

I remember watching an Air France Concorde with this very livery, doing a low fly-pass over Hong Kong harbour. It was carrying Imelda Marcos on a shopping trip to Hong Kong.

I remember an Air France Concorde doing a MNL-HKG-MNL round-trip; carrying Imelda Marcos, on a shopping trip. On the return leg , the Concorde did a low fly-past over Hong Kong island...remember seeing it through my bedroom window.

I love that aircraft are named; gives them a certain bit of a personality.

As a very young child; I remember travelling one an old ANA (All Nippon Airways) 727. With a light-blue cheatline and a light-blue painted 'mohawk', with some sort primitive helicopter design on the the tail; all very strange!

They used to take a southerly route (1990s?), over the Middle-East and the north of India; skirting the Chinese border. I also wonder why they could not make LIS- MFM (Macau) work. A former Portuguese colony with a large Portuguese/Chinese population. It is also a large gambling destination. The new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau road bridge would surely be an added incentive for TP to re-introduce a service to Macau.

Although Hong Kong’s Kai Tak had air bridges, there weren’t many. I remember being bussed and boarded via stairs; an Alitalia DC-10-30, Cathay L-1011 and a Japan Airlines 747 (Garden Jet), CAAC 707, Japan Airlines DC-8 and a Cathay 747-200...Also; longer ago, I vaguely remember deplaning from a MSA ...

I vaguely remember the DC10 centre bulkhead coat closets, here visible in 2 of the pictures. I think you hung your coat on a hanger and drags it up into a ceiling storage area?

I remember reading that boy george used to play piano on the early Virgin flights accross the pond as Branson was just getting started and he was the boy's promoter.
