Wouldn’t Singapore be perfect to feed into Qantas, Fiji and IAG / BA SIN-SYD flight?
Surely there’s lots of feed from Qantas, South American, European connections plus SIN O and D to make this flight worth a try.
Isn't LAX a more logical choice for BNE? Or are they waiting for the airside construction to finish? QF flies it, and UA is also in the market, so not really beneficial. What is surprising is that AA doesn't seem to have prioritized MEL first, which is the larger market but range possibly the issue...
Jump to postDFW-BNE makes a lot of sense. When QF 8 used to do DFW-BNE-SYD on the 747. Most of the plane disembarked at BNE due to the connections with a lot going to CNS. The question will be is what’s the frequency and are AA using their new Hi or Low J 787s? 51 J is a lot of seats to fill to and from BNE, pr...
Jump to postkriskim wrote:Looking at the NZ schedules, I find it interesting that NZ has dropped BNE-ZQN, was the route not doing well for them?
Could the reason why they’re wanting to see how many 787-10s they can convert is so they can release the A350-900s currently flown to BNE/SYD/MEL which are well within the 787-10 range. Then move the 350-900s from these type of routes and regional routes to Long haul routes negating the need for as ...
Jump to postThis RFP is going to be interesting what the mission is for. Currently the A330 fleet does the smallest to the longest of missions. It needs to do missions as short as SYD-MEL, SYD-PER/CNS/DRW, MEL/BNE-PER all the way to BNE-LAX. Whatever is the replacement will have to cover short all the way to ve...
Jump to postI could see this order being split 787-9 and 350-900. With the bulk going to the 787-9 and A350-900 getting some of the orders. 787-9 needed for the smaller routes which need a 1 to 1 A330-200 replacement capacity wise / lower demand asian routes 350-900 needed for trunk Asian routes, and potential ...
Jump to postShould BA stop flying to DFW, ORD and MIA because they are AA hubs ? If within the scope of their venture it became advantageous for them to do so, then quite simply: yes. There's little chance that they'd ever choose to forego MIA, as it's a high-O&D destination with heavy p.o.s. on the Britis...

Jump to posto an extent let’s give the airlines some (little bit) credit as they work through this disaster caused by covid. Most importantly the staff working through this. Jump to postWIth mishandled bags being a constant problem for QF, The Australian is today reporting that QF management has decided to make the minimum domestic to international connection time 90 minutes, up from 60 minutes. Jump to postWould it be a better idea to replace BNE-ORD with BNE-DFW and get AA to do it? I mean it makes far more sense as DFW is an AA hub and they can send the 787 from there… This is assuming there’s an open bubble. With the QF A330-200 being proposed for BNE would it be looking at supplemental services by...
Jump to postAdelaide could go to 789 or 359 as 77W was too much and 77L wasn’t the right fit.
SAN Jose could be done by 789 be a great way to dominate Bay Area to India travel post Covid
PEN 789 route good plane to open up second tier Malaysia destination to compete with Qatar
It makes sense that QF are still sending their 747s with titles still to MHV as pre -covid QF was chronically short of aircraft. Whether getting rid of the 747s would allow Qantas to have enough aircraft to do International and Domestic is the ?
Jump to postThis could be the perfect chance for Icelandair to get some really cheap 321neos as even though there is a massive backlog. A lot of airlines are not in a position to accept new aircraft. Jump to postThe reason why Delta is more profitable is that a lot of its flights connect at Atlanta which is really cheap compared to Miami which is really expensive. LAX should be kept but the PRC flights should be cut to help bring it into profitability.

Jump to postCould we see DOH - SEA or SFO happen now?
Jump to postIt could be BNE-DFW (4x per week) and BNE-LAX 3 x per week. This would be the most logical as QF starts soon with BNE-ORD 3 x per week so by adding BNE-DFW 4 x per week it allows Daily connections to an AA hub from BNE. 3 x per week is perfect to backfill QF 55/56. Or it could be MIA-JNB as doesn’t ...
Jump to postAA on BNE-LAX makes sense as due to the smaller premium market and the fact the 787’s have a lower J count (30) v QF (42) it makes sense for AA to fly Brisbane than Melbourne..
Jump to postI could see a PHX-MEL done by AA? As the primary reason for these AU-US routes is to prevent double connects. Also with AU flights to the US it doesn’t have the luxury of being able to fly all over the US without issues. Not like how Asia/Europe flights have the luxury of connecting everywhere in th...
Jump to postIt would be logical for SQ/VS/VA/NZ (although VA and NZ in the same picture is ?) to have a JV for South East Asia and Australia/NZ. Jump to postThe only possible mission Delta could have for a 777-8 is Johannesburg to Atlanta. Jump to postGiven the metal neutral AA/JL JV wouldn’t the route be better done by an AA 777 or 787 as the JAL plane parks for 19 hours.... The route turns around in 2 hours at Tokyo.
This is looking at it from an aircraft rotation point of view?
Even AA could do a trans con in the spare time?
The next question is what does this mean for Qantas? They are hugely reliant on LATAM for South America. Does it mean their 747 transitioning to 787 flight continues to go to Santiago or does it move back to Buenos Aires? Who will now provide feed or will LATAM still? I could see Virgin Australia be...

Jump to postAdelaide could be a possibility as the state government is trying to court an airline to do USA-Adelaide flights. If the subsidy is high enough I am sure AA could start. It would help strengthen the QF/AA job that Adelaide has gotten a us service because of the JV.
Jump to postI could see the EU3, VS, JL/NH, CX, CA, CZ ,TK and QF/NZ/VA ordering the A35K ULR...
