In addition to great geography, I’d also argue that Finnair has less LCC competition than OK. Hence, their European network is robust and can help support their long haul network.

It may have been a Jet2 plane. Their Jet2 Holiday livery is similar to Allegiant. Either that or the plane is being flown to Europe for scrapping or cargo conversion.

That RIX stop on HY is being cut for nonstop soon. However, I think that HY's JFK flight services the Uzbek diaspora in North America, albeit it's small. Is it making money? I doubt it, however people use it. One of my über drivers in Chicago just moved from Tashkent and flew HY to the US.

Surprised to see WN apply for so much from HOU. In their analysis of DL/AM MEX market they listed potential routes DEN/PHX/Others - MEX. I suppose there is a round 2 for the next set. SLC is also closer to Seattle and I wouldn't be surprised if the logic behind giving the flight to LAX is because is serves a different part of country and therefore a different market. I guess SEA bound people will just have to fly through SLC for now.

This is the one long route that makes sense for Xiamen. NYC's Chinatown is heavily tied to Fuzhou through immigration from that part of China. Didn't BBD try to sell the C-Series program to Airbus recently and Airbus said no way? If that's the case, I think Leahy is wishing that he had bought the program from BBD. Now he sees that the C-Series did sell and it sold to an airline that was very happy with buying Airbuses.
