Re: How is FI (Icelandair) doing on DFW-KEF Service?

I can’t give any proof so you will pretty much have to take my word for it but FI have been getting pretty good numbers on that route and I would be surprised if they would stop flying to DFW

Re: WN 1380 LGA-DAL emergency landing at PHL, 1 fatality

Having listened to the ATC recordings I am having a hard time piecing together the roles of the pilots in this emergency. Why is the captain on the frequency most of the time and not the FO if she was Pilot Flying? Does anyone have insight on this?

This revised livery wouldn’t be as awful if the grey belly were dark blue and with the old yellow line. I also can’t get used to seeing the tail with out ICELANDAIR written on it

Re: New Icelandair livery coming

FI just bought a former Arkia 757-300, so we should see the new livery on a 757 very soon. I would not expect that, this revised livery is most likely done to make the MAX more proportional, like the ydid when the 767 entered the fleet, (drew the belly line lower than on the 757), I think the new -...

Re: Icelandair To Announce KEF-SFO

Icelandair is still listed with one 787-8 on Boeing website. I’m very close to the management of FI and trust me, that 787 isn’t going to FI. Don’t remember what the plan was, if it was to sell it on right away or put it on long term lease. Regards! Sveinn :) The point was if FI has one on order or...

Re: Icelandair goes back to Baltimore

That's pretty impressive if they can support both IAD and BWI. As stated above, it was only a couple years ago when they pulled out of IAD, and the nearest airport was JFK. I use to fly Icelandair a lot back in the 2000-2005 time frame out of BWI. Earlier in the thread somebody mentioned FI going 3...

Re: Icelandair goes back to Baltimore

Can anyone explain how Icelandair keeps hopping from airport to airport in the area. This is what the third time FI has come and gone from BWI in the past 15 years? They seem like every other year they flip flop between IAD and BWI. I know for a few years, we did not even have service in the WAS ar...

There is also wow which is as cheap and have a more sustainable model. The idea that low cost is solely due to Norwegian presence is not accurate. Many airports are getting lower tatl prices due to Iceland airlines options. I don’t think Wow are a more sustainable model, for the past few weeks Icel...

Yes I would say Boeing is slightly ahead of AB in the filed of aircraft and aerospace manufacturing. Don't get me wrong AB is a great company that build terrific airplanes many of which I enjoy riding in. Did you know that Boeing even does fight training in the AB for customers that have Boeings an...

Do you think this regulation is fair and useful for either the pilots or the airlines? Personally I feel that yes it is useful in the long run. Its a matter of having more exposure and overall experience even if it is only in a single engine aircraft. I don't see why that is a bad thing. So you wou...

Re: Norwegian captain flys with his 19 year old son on revenue flight.

There is a flight instructor shortage in the US. There is no need for anyone to fly in circles for hundreds of hours. That is the assumption that is ridiculous here. Are there a few that actually do that? Sure, but it is no means reflective of the common path to the regionals. The few that "fl...

Re: Norwegian captain flys with his 19 year old son on revenue flight.

If I recall correctly it was a knee-jerk response to an unfortunate accident in 2009. But how much do young pilots in the US gain by working extremely hard to pay for those extra 1300ish hours they need just to get a flying job ? Flying around in circles for months just to meet these FAA regulation...

Re: Norwegian captain flys with his 19 year old son on revenue flight.

This happens all the time in Europe. 20-21 yo RJ FOs used to be common place in the US as well prior to the 1500 hour rule. Presumably there was a reason for the institution of that rule. If I recall correctly it was a knee-jerk response to an unfortunate accident in 2009. But how much do young pil...
