Wow! This happened quickly! Finnair opens new route to Beijing Daxing on 3 November 2019! Will be operated 3x weekly with A330. This route will surely become daily very soon unless AY wants to increase frequencies to PEK. Lentoposti And Wizz starts TKU-KUT in July next year. Maybe a bit odd but why...

German carrier WDL Aviation will operate AY's flights to HAM and HAJ during July and August. It's the same airline that ended up to EDI instead of DUS from LCY earlier this year.

Next weekend, Sat 15th and Sun 16th, there is an Air Show at TKU. AY will do a fly-over with A350 and SK (actually CityJet) will show their CRJ900. A YouTube vlogger tapio_on_the_move (a Finnish captain for CityJet) will also attend.

This morning's 9.50am QR departure from HEL to DOH has been delayed until 10pm. First officer and a FA were drunk, so they're waiting for the night flight to arrive with replacement crew.

Air traffic controllers in Finland are striking; Tuesdays and Saturdays 0200-0800 and Thursdays 1300-1500. This shouldn't cause major cancellations but rather delays, as supervisors will be at work at mentioned hours.

I'm not 100% sure but I'd hazard a guess and say it goes on scheduled departure time. So in your examples AY143 departing at 0040 is counted as 2019. And AY131 departing at 2355 is counted as 2018 even if there is a delay keeping it on the ground past midnight. That's what I thought too. Anyway, AY...

I have a question about how passenger numbers are counted at new year's eve. Eg AY143 departs at 0040, but check in naturally closes before midnight, so are pax calculated as 2018 or 2019? Or if AY131, scheduled for 2355, would be delayed until after midnight, would they still be 2018 pax?

Pretty much all flights at HEL have been delayed yesterday and today because of so much deicing having to be done. For example yesterday's AY5 just landed back as AY6 delayed by 2,5 hours.

HEL has today reached 20 million pax for this year, year end will be closer to 21 million. Great! Unfortunately, I guess the total passenger amount for this year will be around 20.8 million. It looks like BA will drop HEL from 2x daily to just 1x daily in S19. Really quite unfortunate and not least for connections, but at least AY in the same alliance salvages a bit. Hopefully, AY or D8 will increase flights to fill the gap. It's useless to think that a new airline would step in... Dro...

10 years ago a few AY long hauls diverted to TMP due to heavy snowfall at HEL. I was driving past TMP and saw one landing. Probably first heavies at TMP?
