Re: Mobile (AL) releases master plan for Brookley site downtown airport

Having driven through Mobile and the tunnel on the way to the Florida beaches probably 100 times or more in my life, I never really stopped in the city until a few years back. I was very impressed with the downtown area...thought it was nice with all the cafes and stores, etc. More vibrant than I ha...

There’s talk of the future Mobile train station being built at Brookley as well, to offer intermodal connectivity. Twice daily Amtrak service along the gulf coast between Mobile and New Orleans will begin in 2022.

Re: AA, UA, DL TATL Service History

At least initially, the DL service to LGW originated in MSY.

MSY-ATL-LGW, same plane service, on the L1011-100. It was a big deal in MSY to have a one-seat ride to London, and on its preferred airline at the time.

The initial DL/PA interchange via IAD also originated in MSY... MSY-ATL-IAD-Europe.

I recall flying on Pan Am from JFK to MCO (and back) on a 727 during the 1980’s. Was that a former National route? Also I remember in 1983, while on holiday with my Auntie in the US, we saw a Pan Am 727 @ New Orleans, would that have been one of the routes they got from national? Pan Am did not fly...

Wow. The end of an era. I’ve been on many MD-88 flights over the years but only 2 MD-90s... thankful now that I got on them! My first DL M88 flight was DL585, MCO-MSY in June 1994. Outbound to MCO was a 72S. I remember the pilot making a very long announcement about how new and efficient the airplan...

1X DCA

14 out of the 16 on mainline. The only two Eagle flights are the DCA and one of the CLT.

Really curious about MSY. It was scheduled to go to 6X weekly in June, with a mix of 788 and 789.
I agree we may be out of luck for a while if the 787s are used to replace routes that saw larger aircraft. I think the market was proving itself, which gives me hope it’ll be back...eventually.
