Having driven through Mobile and the tunnel on the way to the Florida beaches probably 100 times or more in my life, I never really stopped in the city until a few years back. I was very impressed with the downtown area...thought it was nice with all the cafes and stores, etc. More vibrant than I ha...Jump to post
There’s talk of the future Mobile train station being built at Brookley as well, to offer intermodal connectivity. Twice daily Amtrak service along the gulf coast between Mobile and New Orleans will begin in 2022.Jump to post
At least initially, the DL service to LGW originated in MSY.
MSY-ATL-LGW, same plane service, on the L1011-100. It was a big deal in MSY to have a one-seat ride to London, and on its preferred airline at the time.
The initial DL/PA interchange via IAD also originated in MSY... MSY-ATL-IAD-Europe.
I recall flying on Pan Am from JFK to MCO (and back) on a 727 during the 1980’s. Was that a former National route? Also I remember in 1983, while on holiday with my Auntie in the US, we saw a Pan Am 727 @ New Orleans, would that have been one of the routes they got from national? Pan Am did not fly...Jump to post
Wow. The end of an era. I’ve been on many MD-88 flights over the years but only 2 MD-90s... thankful now that I got on them! My first DL M88 flight was DL585, MCO-MSY in June 1994. Outbound to MCO was a 72S. I remember the pilot making a very long announcement about how new and efficient the airplan...Jump to post
Really curious about MSY. It was scheduled to go to 6X weekly in June, with a mix of 788 and 789.
I agree we may be out of luck for a while if the 787s are used to replace routes that saw larger aircraft. I think the market was proving itself, which gives me hope it’ll be back...eventually.
Re: DE... much of the time, there's a delay between what's posted in OAG and what is shown on the airline website....but not always. I think the key will be if the flights are still showing this Sunday. In other news, COPA has decided to retire all 73G's... IMO, not good news for their lower volume ...Jump to post
$39 each way for MSY-IAH. At those prices, they might get a few folks.Jump to post
Or wouldnt that be those staff returning home from cruise ship works? I know the cruise ship industry hires a fair number of Africans, and myself have met a few (very nice) staff from Ethiopia actually. Given the whole cruise industry shutdown it won't surprise me if that's the case. Michael Yes th...Jump to post

Many of AA's April cuts still show a fraction which is what will run from Apr 1-6. The schedule change is Apr 7, markets like ABQ-LAX, ELP-LAX, SAF-PHX, ROW-PHX, and I'm sure many many others, loose all AA service. All these markets show service returning in May however AA has already announced tha...Jump to post

Dara...sorry for your loss. U.S citizen here. I’ve seen the 789 show up (scheduled) for a couple of days each in February and March, and for about half the month of April. May onwards shows all 788 at this time. Interesting. When the announcement of 6x weekly service took place the schedule indicated that the 789 would be flown on select Tuesd...Jump to post
DE roundtrips are now working from MSY. Also, big hint that the partner airline will be EuroAtlantic in that under J details it says "lie-flat seat" - something Omni Air does not offer in its far less than DE J product and most other partner airline candidates don't fly the 763. That said...Jump to post
AS operates 2X SEA-MSY between October and May. Summer is the slow season in MSY so it makes sense in the respect, though summer is peak season for SEA.Jump to post
On the international side of things, A currently sees BA, CM, and TS... a grand total of 11 weekly flights at the current time. It also sees roughly 2-3 daily on F9 during the day depending on the day of the week, and maybe 3 early morning originating flights on AA, WN, etc. And that's it. For 95% o...Jump to post
The GPT-BNA route will be supported mostly by BNA originating pax wanting to go gamble for a couple of days. That’s likely the purpose for it.
Why would anyone in the Nola metro use that, twice a week seasonal, when you have NK daily if you’re looking for a super low fare?
I'm not sure what the DY announcement or the G4 have to do with MSY? DY is not going to be looking at adding secondary markets, considering its financial position. They need super high volume markets. They need sure things. No room for them to gamble on a MSY, at this point in time. In addition, MSY...Jump to post
Not all lanes of TSA are open yet. Add in the fact that Sunday’s are insanely busy, and there you have it... crazy long wait times. When the rest of the lanes open, it should help. Looking forward to the 6th! Hopefully Condor will make an announcement about the 2020 schedule and BA will make their flight daily. Something big has to be announced at the opening right? FWIW, Condor signs are still up
at the new terminal as of today, and Air Transat has been added. You’d think if they weren’t coming back the name would be removed before opening day, when all the press arrives...
Also, the Condor check in system still shows up on the common use computer terminals.
I’m looking forward to flying on a MAX when they come back. But then again, I didn’t have an issue flying on them before on WN, AA, etc. I only know of one person who has told me they won’t fly on them for a while. Everyone else I know in and out of the industry has said they’ll have no hesitation i...Jump to post

The Delta and United lounges will be open when the terminal opens (from what I’ve been told). The Club MSY lounge won’t be open until January, probably. I’ll be there Thursday at 5. CN and KCS railroads (the two main lines closest to MSY) have never really been in favor of having commuter rail on their tracks in the area. whats this mean? are all curbside check in good for all airlines?
FWIW I’ve been hearing that November 6 date being thrown around as well. I’ll believe it when I see it, but everything is basically done in there. It will open without the Vino
Volo or The Club MSY being open, but all the other vendors should be ready to go.
Has anyone noticed if the signs on the NT arrivals ramp still list "Condor"? I know Silver was removed presumably when it came apparent they weren't coming here. As long as Condor is still on the sign there may be hope. I can't see the terminal opening shortly with them still listed if th...Jump to post
