October 23 is the opening date all airline employees have been advised of, according to a friend at an airline at MSY. Not public yet but that’s what everyone is presumably being told.

Current Concourse D might be used for charter flights for the next Super Bowl and other events of that magnitude. Not much else is planned for that building in terms of flight ops. The idea is an entirely new terminal can be constructed to the west, one that mirrors the current one, if demand dictates. The FBOs would have to move. Otherwise, there’s enough land for it.

Yeah this isn’t CVG-hub DL when there were 4X daily mainline on CVG-MSY with 73S/72S/757/M88 etc. I don’t see it coming back. It lasted a good while... in fact my last ever 727 flight was DL399 CVG-MSY.

A will have to also be used for at least early morning originators. There simply aren’t enough hard stands available for all the overnight aircraft without parking some on A. That's what I figured as well. Does MSY even have an int'l arrival before 3pm or so? Not counting the Vacation Express chart...

LAX-MSY goes back to 2X daily in September. It’s Saturday-only through late August then it goes back to daily. Was cut down over the summer due to the fleet shuffling over the MAX.

MSY-PHX is long overdue.

The Aviation Board director needs to be fired. Just another New Orleans political hack. And that’s not just my opinion.

It’ll be a great thing for the city and region when this opens, but it’s been a botched delivery with poor communication from the airport to the tenants.

AA is a disaster. Day in and day out, major operational issues. Yet they have time to continue to demoralize employees if they let the airplane push out of the gate 11 minutes early as opposed to 10 (buddy of mine there told me about this).

Frankly I miss the old weekly MSY-RTB flight that TACA and before that SAHSA offered for many years. RTB is an amazing diving destination.

CUN was served daily by both CO and EA, up to 4X weekly on LR, and various frequencies on AM.

UA585 (B732) crashed in COS in 1991 I want to say due to the rudder problem. An Eastwind 737 also experienced a rudder hard over after US427 in flight but the pilots were able to recover.

Former QF/BA 763’s in a typical 2-class config. I walked on one last summer and iirc it was something like 24 up front and over 230 in coach. Small monitors located throughout the cabin for video entertainment. Old style overhead bins.

There’s been one stuck in MSY for weeks with an engine problem.

AA cutting back LAX quite a bit this Summer. B6 is also cutting back FLL a good bit throughout the fall. Last fall, they were still daily. I’m surprised B6 is still even in the market, to be honest. The flights are rarely full (usually around 75% from what I see) and the yields have to be terrible ...

The airport already moved two jetways off of C which is really making ops difficult for several airlines on that concourse. Plus they've removed one from D. I can't imagine they'd do that knowing it's not opening until August unless something major in the past week has came to light.

I suppose A1 would only be used as a last resort for a wide body. Would imagine the go-to gates for BA/DE would be the ones to the left. A6/5/4/3 etc.
