As has been mentioned a few times before (even by BA pilots), maneuvering the A380 at BOS is tricky, especially at the E9-12 area. I was on a BA A380 flight in early May 2017, and after pushback we waited for about 55 minutes before taxiing. The captain explained that the new A380 gates are positio...Jump to post
PWM always was a seasonal station from the first day B6 arrived. I also don’t see any equivalencies between Frontier coming and B6 going. They’re two separate things. I do agree, though, with the sentiment that this lessens the likelihood of MHT for B6. The focus ought to be on convincing AA to pick...Jump to post
Yeah, all very good points. The BA A380 driver on Twitter says as much about Boston. One does get the sense, though, that the ME airlines are showing renewed vigor at BOS (including El Al). But flying in the face of that is the Dubai runway project and what EK will do to balance things out.Jump to post
Only anecdotal, but these are the 777-300ER's that QR uses to Montreal: A7-BEF, BAL, BAS, BAT, BAV, BAW, BAX, BAY, BAZ.
All are 412-seat planes except for BEF, which is a 358-seat version.
At JFK they use a smaller-capacity 77W, but they've also got 2x daily whereas YUL has only got the one.
DL is to BOS what AA is to PHL.Jump to post
I know it’s been discussed to death ever since DL opened their A terminal at BOS. But is the whole customs/immigration setup there a dead issue? It seems to me that with the situation at E poised to get a lot worse before it gets better, Massport would be eager to help their own cause by allowing DL...Jump to post
Sitting around while other airlines give it a go TATL is a double-edged sword. The first-movers show you where the failures are. But they also show you where the successes are. Boston’s Terminal E is a nightmare and will get worse before it gets better. There’s no room there for B6 until E gets its ...Jump to post
They did look a bloody mess in fairness apart from the one adopted currently. Dunno, I always felt that Chelsea Rose on a 772ER was an outstanding livery. https://www.airteamimages.com/pics/132/132165_800.jpg Having a Dutch last name I was pleased to be on G-VIIU BOS-LHR years ago when it was in th...Jump to post
40m pax is a given IMO. Based on 2017, Sep and Oct are solid months and I believe that trend will continue. Nov and Dec tends to be slightly leaner months compared to the peak season although you never know how this will turn out this year. There are a few sprinkled seasonal leisure destinations th...Jump to post
They’ve never run the A380 here after early November. For one, demand doesn’t warrant it. Second, maneuvering the beast (as I’ve heard it stated by a BA captain) is kind of squirrelly and tight at Logan during good weather...never mind when the edges of taxiways are piled high with snow. Also, the 7...Jump to post
You are correct about the odds for the 773. But I still prefer the AA 787 over club world. Its is a product that AA betters BA. Considering BA uses their Hi J fleet on this route, there are a lot of people who do sit in those seats, and they must be a profitable too. I truly don't understand how th...Jump to post
Chris, I think I must take issue with that. I think you are saying BA's product is better than AA's? But truthfully, AA's J class far surpasses Club World. I often fly to JFK just to avoid having to stare at my "cube-mate during every service. We will have to see what BA's new business class l...Jump to post
QR had the 788 for a period, so that played a role. The EK A380 rumor continues to percolate but at issue is the pending construction of E expansion exactly where that beast would go. And, that space is also where they remote-park a lot of the international planes to free up gates. BOS is clearly tr...Jump to post

The reason BOS doesn’t have its second daily back is because EK doesn’t have smaller planes. The 77L is stretched too thin elsewhere with only ten in the fleet.Jump to post
The comment about MHT ‘fees being high’ was never mentioned as an impediment by the previous regime running the place. Obviously they didn’t want any fingers pointed at THEM for the decade+ falloff in traffic (which is guaranteed to include 2019). MHT spent a lot of money on infrastructure built for...Jump to post
In my mind, I always waffle between two schools of thought. First, no matter WHAT airport managers do, airlines will go where they want regardless. Second, airport managers DO play a huge role, and the airports that succeed are the ones with proactive managers. I've been more in the second camp, but...Jump to post

A WN plane that lands at MHT is stopped at the gate 60 seconds after it touches down. It’s 6 times that at BOS. Going the other way, that 737 has the runway to itselfat MHT whereas it’s in a long conga line at BOS. That’s fuel. Wasted.Jump to post

It's official! PF is entering a LH hub. Starting next year PF will fly from Frankfurt to Boston. https://www.google.com/amp/s/simpleflying.com/primera-air-launches-4-transatlantic-routes-from-frankfurt/amp/ And here we were several years ago reasonably sure that LH would send their A380 here. WN felt the need to go into BOS and draw down MHT. But at what cost? To read the comments and watch the developments, a big cost. There’s no market out of BOS they have to themselves, and every WN jet that backs out of its gate is stuck behind a long line of JetBlue and DL aircraft...wasting fuel as...Jump to post
On October 13 I am scheduled to fly from Fort Myers to Manchester on DL. My booking was RSW-LGA-MHT. But I have discovered that they've switched me to RSW-ATL-MHT, and the ATL-MHT leg is shown as a 737-700. But I'm hearing from someone on our FB spotters page that it may actually end up being a 737-...Jump to post
Also totally forgot about the December launch of 3U's CTU-BOS service. Crazy to think we'll have a non-stop to a secondary Chinese market (even though CTU is a huge population base). I think BOS is the envy of so many other airports for the roll it's been on since 2012 with JAL. As for this CTU-BOS...Jump to post
The worrisome thing about ‘one-flight’ stations is lack of elasticity should something go sideways. Case in point, if I had to go to the west coast and Delta was my choice, I would rather use Boston and connect in either DTW or MSP. That way I have lots of options in both directions. But as much as ...Jump to post
You’re with DL or BA or EI as an incumbent player in the transatlantic market and you hear mumbling from JetBlue about ‘eventually’ entering this turf. ^ That would be disappointing especially considering all the infrastructure improvements (parking, runway, highway access) and the name change which I thought would help as a marketing tool. With KLM and Korean on the way, I have to say that I'm very intrigued by BOS's international expansion in the last few years.
