Re: Pilots of 777s and 787s warned over pitch-guidance mode slip before take-off

One can argue that any effort to design a fully proof system is a loosing battle. If a medical equipment designer is designing a more nurse proof system, then nature have the undesirable habit of developing a better nurse. I suspect this phenomenom is equally valid for aircrafts and it's pilots. But...

Re: Pilots of 777s and 787s warned over pitch-guidance mode slip before take-off

I found this quote from the FAA information bulletin interesting: If in ALT mode while on the ground, pressing TO/GA switch will have no effect on pitch mode or guidance. Selecting both F/Ds “OFF” then “ON” while on the ground will restore intended, default TO/GA pitch guidance. Basically, if pilot(...

Re: China Eastern 737-800 crashes in Guangxi, southern China

The aircraft must have started with a violent roll to the left, reaching inverted before point #3. Then continued left roll towards wings level around point #6. Then pilots have tried leveling off, which they managed to do, for a while. I will make an argument for one of two possible causes. Either ...

Something obviously happened quickly. Seen from the outside, the aircraft must either have sheed some significant arrodynamic part, or some control surface must have deflected considerably. Just some thinking. I think the wings or other large part of the aircraft was broken off before impact. The reason is as follows: Very high speed impact would leav only small, dirty/burnt remains of the aircraft. The pic of panel parts from the aircraft shows larger parts, several, maybe ten feet lo...

Re: Discussion on Potential 777XF Specs

Regarding the 787 spesifically, I think it has a very thin wing, I dont actually know it's thickness, but it is flexing a LOT in flight, compared to pretty much any aircraft. That much flexing indicates a thin wing, and a thin wing is comparatively heavy. The opposite example I think would be the A3...

would guess OEW is higher than expected as well. On Boeing's website 777F volume is 652.7 m3, 777-8F volume is 766.1m3. Airbus' linked document has the A350F volume at 71m3 more than the 777F which would make it ~723.7m3. That would make the difference about 5.8% between the A350F and 777-8F in terms of volume. Thank you. I will from now on inves...
