Re: PIA A320 crash in Karachi

With all due respect Zeke is a qualified pilot and so far it's been reported they called mayday and said both engines were out. I'm not a pilot but that would be a fairly good guess at this point. Suspect they went around for the gear problem and were unable to retract them, increased fuel burn res...

Re: PIA A320 crash in Karachi

A320 aborted the approach to Karachi due to problems with extension of the landing gear and performed a go around. The aircraft lost height and impacted a residential area called Model Colony on second final approach east of the aerodrome (presumably while on final approach to runway 25L and burst ...

Re: Student Pilot Future

I’m in the same boat as you! Except that I haven’t got my bachelor’s just yet, I’m doing it simultaneously alongside my PPL. I figure as long as I have the degree I have a safety net in case things don’t recover in time for me to get my career started. One thing I will say is, for the first couple y...

Re: MEA - Report: Post Lebanon's Civil War

So very true! There seem to be Lebanese people in large concentration in many countries world wide. Myself having grown up in the Northeast USA, there is plenty as well as a large population in Detroit, I believe the largest in North America. Such amazing people, food, and proud history. But to get...

YQG is Windsor, YEG is Edmonton.

There is a fair sized MRO in YQG, so could very well be for MTC.

I ask out of ignorance, but is there any substantial maintenance that can be carried out in an hour’s time ? And if so would it really require flying across the border ?

Republic E175 at CYQG ?

I happened to pull up the airport on FR24 and noticed the flight operating as RPA3300. At first I figured maybe it had something to do with the AAR hangar but N751YX was on the ground for just over an hour before returning to CMH. Any idea what brought it over ?

Re: Drake's Private 767-200 New Livery

Interesting that it carries a US registration. The plane is technically owned by Elan Express (part 125) which is US based. Cargojet provides the pilots from what I recall of the arrangement. This is interesting, thank you ! It always struck as weird that Cargojet would have a passenger 767 lying a...

Re: Algerian Aviation Thread - 2020

As per amadeus, AC Rouge YUL-ALG in S20 will be 4 weekly 763ER vs 5 weekly 333 AC in S19 Air Algerie will maintain same number of flights : 8 weekly (Daily + second flight each Tuesday) So that's quite a downgrade then (Rouge). Good news for Air Algerie I guess. I’m curious as to what loads look li...

Re: Reports of Ukrainian 737 Crash in Tehran,Iran

Pardon me if these questions have already been answered. Early on with the missile theory there were questions regarding how remnants of the missile were found at the crash site if the missile(s) were launched/hit kilometres away. Another thing I find bizarre is this new video surfacing only now wh...

Re: Reports of Ukrainian 737 Crash in Tehran,Iran

Ok... Less than 24h ago, Western intelligence agencies said: this is probably not a missile. They added an oddly peremptory comment (similar to the "technical problem" used by Iran just after the tragedy btw): "the most likely cause of the crash was a malfunction, the source added, s...

Re: Algerian Aviation Thread - 2019

I don't understand why Algeria does not allow visa free access for EU passport holders like Morocco or Tunis do. That would increase those numbers. I would love to know what the security situation is like. My understanding is a foreigner can’t really walk around unescorted without fear of kidnap, v...

Canadian 737MAX @ YQG

I saw in the news that Sunwing was positioning a few grounded 737MAX aircraft at YQG, and passing by today I was surprised to see several more of the type parked on the tarmac, belonging to both WG and AC. I counted 6 AC birds and 5 Sunwing ones. Anyone have any idea why the airlines have chosen Win...

Re: Lion Air 737MAX8 Crashed Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang

Hello everyone, Do excuse me if this has been asked already earlier on in the thread, but I'm wondering about the state in which the CVR might be found? Given the nature of the aircraft's collision with the water, how likely is it that the CVR sustained damage severe enough to compromise the data st...

An assumption, but an informed one. I'm glad we agree you made an assumption. As to the original comment, you've said nothing that addresses my assertion regarding prejudice. I have been the victim of prejudice many times and am offended by it whenever it appears. Yes, #AllLivesMatter. I also know ...

Re: Emirates Pilot Shortage

Why doesn’t EK focus on hiring local Emeraties, rather than depending on foreign pilots and scouring the planet for flying talent? How difficult would it be for EK to set up a massive local training center capable of training hundreds of pilots on an annual basis? You mean getting arabs to work dif...

Calling all pilots - (Canadians preferably)

Hello everyone, This will be my first-ever post here on a.net. I've actually been a lurker for several years, but as a kid I was never in a position to pay for a membership. I'm glad that I can be a part of the community now. I'm currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian university and, despite ...
