Re: Air Vanuatu orders 4 A220

I think this is great news from the Pacific Nation. Have flown NF on their previous 737-800 (YJ-AV1) on 3 return trips SYD to VLI, and once on their newer 738 (YJ-AV8) on one return trip SYD to VLI. Actually, one of my trips was actually SYD-MEL-VLI when they were doing services from MEL. As I recal...

Re: Qantas to take delivery of 1st 787-9 this Tuesday (17 Oct), next route for 787-9 may be announced this week

However, the caveat here is that the A380 does carry more First Class seats, so if QF can command a price premium, then the revenue generated by 1 A380 flight may still offset any cost delta over the 2 x 787 flights. I am guessing Qantas is not installing First on these 787's because the cabin is n...

Re: Virgin Australia defers 737 MAX deliveries

In the good old days, Boeing would have allowed deliveries to be delayed, at no cost. Or for the orders to be sold on to their shareholders, or even a wider group. Not anymore, without penalty. The airline is being prudent. There are a lot more prudent airlines in discussions with Boeing and Airbus...

With a relatively small fleet, does it not make more financial sense to have a single supplier for air fleets if that supplier has all equipment the airline needs?

Obviously the 340s will go soon, but for the international fleet, on their pilots rated on multiple aircraft types (A330 and A350?)
