Will be lots of delays, my AA flight sat for over an hour after landing before being re-assist new gate away from the main terminal.

Traffic in the area was gridlocked once I got out, so knock-on effects will be significant.

Still plenty of young 77W’s that are years off replacement, the ones at Saudi are a perfect example, plenty there to replace when the time comes.

I’m sure the 779 will pick up more orders as time ticks on, just don’t see it selling as well as the 77W did.

Traffic numbers are going to be soft for years, Frequencies will be much reduced so lots of spare slots, it makes sense to consolidate short haul traffic @ LHR.

There is little connecting traffic on the BA LGW beach fleet so no real need to maintain LGW short haul to be brutally honest.

The problem with transatlantic LCC's is that outside of the summer all the legacy carriers essentially dump economy seats into each others hubs at laughably low prices to fill seats which is made viable by the high and stable business class fares. The only way I see a 777 coming back into service is if SYD gets the green light in the next couple of months. It's loaded for August right now, but I wouldn't hold my breath that it operates. I think P&W re-entering the current WB market is highly unlikely, their previous WB engine track record was hardly stellar....

RR’s offering on the 787 has had pretty substantial issues, GE have had issues with the new 777-9 engine, who would risk a punt on P&W?

A much needed boost to the 787 line to help maintain production levels though a big blow to loose ANA as a 787 customer, suspect despite the issues and compensation from RR, GE gave them a great deal & NH are a 777-9 customer for GE engines too.

BA longhaul @ MAN ‘might’ work with A321-200XLR but is it really worth the effort & investment? - I doubt it.

MAN itself is a terrible airport, surly staff, terrible security screening process, cramped terminal layout, at least T3, its an awful passenger experience.

I fly now with the "old" config 777-200 between LHR and BKK and it has the 9 seat abreast in economy. Maybe not the newest plane but much more comfortable then the new config with 10 abreast and bloody uncomfortable seats in economy. I hope that they keep the old config as long as possibl...

Totally agree with the amenities comment, PJ’s should be served, especially on the SIN/EWR vv route, that’s a long flight - which I did enjoy, but found the catering odd.

I flew the final EWR-SIN A340-500 flight and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I recently flew the same flight as you, though in J. Flight was almost completely full, great service & food, slept a good 8-10 hours, it’s a great experience!

Quite a small J cabin vs the current High J cabin, would have expected about 80 J and a smaller Y cabin given the 744 High J is 86 seats.

Going to miss the BA 744 upper deck J cabin!

I think the Airbus order was a legacy from Continental. United are Boeing true and true... I guess that explains all those A320s that United had.
