Like any decent-sized airline with scheduled transpacific flights, Delta undoubtedly has numerous canned routes to choose from for each city pair, and seasonal Russia overflights for each scheduled flight. Not to mention the ability to optimize all or portions of a route on a day-to-day basis. The w...

Re: Why did Delta retire NWA's 747-200F?

Almost all of the NW 747-200Fs went to Kalitta Air after the merger. Several flew for a number of years after that; N795CK, the last US-registered -200 in revenue service, was retired in 2017. It and one of its sister ships were sold after K4 parked them, and are still flying for a cargo operator so...

Re: With the 747-8i all but dead, can the 747-8F gain significant orders as a result of earlier 747 freighters retiring?

I doubt it. Boeing is buying back a lot of mid-life 747-400 passenger frames and converting them to freighters (or at least those that Kalitta Air isn't buying for parts). These will be sitting waiting for other 747-400s to run out of hours. Last year, CAL Cargo Airlines received a 747-400 that was...

A "non-airline airline". Is that like a "non-bank bank"? That's going to be walking a tightrope. With Amazon's legal and regulatory prowess, I would think it would be less overhead, and less expensive, to be certificated. Speculation: Amazon tries out various certificated carrie...
