I have a question about the crew layover. The flight from LHR arrives on Sunday and then departs CHS that evening--obviously without the crew that flew the bird in that day. The next flight to LHR doesn't leave until Thursday. So that means that BA has to put the crew up in a hotel for four nights, ...Jump to post
I wonder what the longest historical DL MD-88 flight was? I remember when they flew them as far west as PHX, but can't remember if it was from ATL or CVG. That was probably one of the longest? As somebody mentioned, they've come back on ATL-PWM after it had been -90s for over a year. I thought all ...Jump to post
Btw, F9 extended their schedule recently and it appears they are moving the IND-LAS to depart at 11:14 PM! Which seems incredibly late....it could be that the gate might be needed during other times of the day. IND got very lucky in TATL service, as they seemed to have missed out on the wave of TAT...Jump to post
I recall reading somewhere that some pilots leave the landing gear down for a while when they go-around after encountering wind shear. The thought is that--should the plane lose lift and crash--the landing gear would absorb some of the impact. This could be completely off-base, but I thought I'd pas...Jump to post
The high flight number and the CVG-TRI original route tells me this is a charter, probably a college sports team. That being said, Virginia and the Carolinas (and evidently eastern Tennessee) are seeing up to a couple feet of snow, so no one is having a very good day. I had a similar thought when I...Jump to post
Wow, that's wild.
I think this was a positioning flight. It looked like Delta sent a number of flights from airports in the Southeast (including BNA, CLT, AVL, TRI, GSP, and GSO) to CVG last night to escape the ice. I think there were three 717 flights from CLT alone.

Out of curiosity, how does the staffing for this flight work--specifically for the crew arriving in Charleston on Sunday night? Do they wait around until Thursday evening to return to LHR, or do they deadhead to a different U.S. city and then work a flight back to LHR on, say, Tuesday or Wednesday?Jump to post
Welcome to the forum, Planes4you, and thanks for posting. I'm posting in part to let you know that not everyone here is dismissive and belittling. I've often wondered why there's no transatlantic Skyteam service to DFW. I get it. DFW is a megAAhub. But it is also the fourth largest metropolitan area...Jump to post

UA is adding CVG-IAH mainline service from July 8 to July 31 using an A320. DL is upguaging CVG-RDU from 2xCRJ to 2xCR9 effective February 7, appears to be a year round change. CVG-IAH/DFW also appear to be getting Saturday service fro Jan/Feb, not sure if that will stick, though. The RDU upguage i...Jump to post
Delta is cutting CVG-XNA effective August 10. Not a shocker there, it was pretty inevitable after they were forced to make it a mid-day departure (eliminating the possibility for day trips) or upguage it to a CRJ-700. IMO, BNA is probably the last route at risk, perhaps MKE if OneJet/Ultimate begin...Jump to post

DL is doing changes on days outside the normal Saturday morning update, I cannot figure out when exactly they are doing it though. Thanks for pointing this out, cvgComair. I will have to monitor the changes mid-week, I guess. I noticed that CVG-RSW operates in March on a 737-800, which is a big upg...Jump to post
Quite a few timing tweaks to the DL schedule this morning. Interestingly, they did add a CVG-ORD flight for Saturday and brought the frequency back up to 4x/day during the week. I don't see anything changed for CMH/DAY. Apparently AUS is having a big DL announcement on Feb 6th, I would expect anyth...Jump to post
Ultimate Air Shuttle is cutting LUK-PDK effective 3/19/2018, loads have been <50% so not a surprise, but unfortunate. It seems like they are unable to make anything new work at this point. That is unfortunate but I'm starting to think that they need to do like OneJet and operate out of the main air...Jump to post
DL SEA-LAX MAR 9>8 DL SEA-SFO MAR 7>6 More reductions in SEA again this week. Interesting. Looking ahead to June, SEA-SFO is operated 8x/daily, exclusively on mainline. This is a significant capacity increase from as recently as two years ago, when the route was almost entirely E75 and perhaps had ...Jump to post
Somewhat unrelated but is anyone else frustrated with the changes to Delta's website? Using the new flight schedule page, it is impossible to ascertain equipment type without clicking individually on each listed flight.
Is there a way around this (esp. for Mac users)???
I know this flight only operates for a couple weeks, but it's amazing to see how much TATL service AUS has garnered especially when you consider just a few years ago the city had never seen any transoceanic service. I do wonder if SAT, which is 80 miles to the SW, will ever see any kind of TO servi...Jump to post
Interesting re: AUS-AMS. I would like to think that it is a sign of DL's ambitions in Austin, although, as DTWorld points out, it may only be related to SXSW. Indeed, the 2018 dates for SXSW (March 9-18) coincide with the four flights Delta has scheduled.Jump to post
There are unsubstantiated rumors in other forums of a potential satellite pilot base in either AUS or SAT. Moreover, DL has made some impressive additions in Austin within the past two years (e.g., LAX is now 3x/A319; JFK is 3x/A319; BOS-A319; RDU-CR9). Like you say, I can only point to additions to...Jump to post

My understanding is that DL did not reduce flights to DEN but rather upgraded the flight from CR9 to 717. It will be interesting to see whether DL's acquisition of the C-Series helps (re)open any routes from CVG (e.g., SAN; year-round SEA; PHX). At the same time, I wonder whether how much longer CVG...Jump to post
DL at CVG Updates: Delta is will have up to 2 mainline flights on CVG-DCA (A320/MD80), with the other two frequencies keeping CRJ-900's this spring. Just curious--what date/month do you see DL with 2x/daily mainline on this route? I've done some quick searches and cannot find anything more than 1x ...Jump to post
CVG-DFW should see some nice pax numbers this summer, with AA and F9 operating mainline aircraft plus Delta on CRJ-900's. Delta has operated an A320 on CVG-DFW during the past few summers, it should be interesting if it returns again this year (They usually load summer mainline flights in late Spri...Jump to post
Great info, cvgComair. Thanks for all of your posting.
FWIW, I've noticed that Delta has been running a 738 on DCA-CVG-DCA for the past week, and it seems to continue through early January, at least on weekdays. It is heartening to see mainline on these routes, even if only on a one-off basis.
It looks like the third JFK-AUS departure is operated by Endeavor, using a CRJ-900. At 1,515 miles, this has to be the longest CR7/9 route in the DL network, no?
No complaints about the addition, but wow, that's a long flight for a CR9.
