Idiotic. There's certainly plenty of slack in the fleet, enough that an extra five minutes to wipe down the armrests is totally inconsequential to the bottom line. It's not like there are millions of people lined up to fly right now making every second of turn time count.

I share your intrigue at the LAX-YVR flight, too. Given how much content Hollywood films in Vancouver it's probably a pretty profitable destination under normal circumstances...but these are not normal circumstances.

The 757 is larger, so many more people would have died in the crashes caused by Boeing's negligence before the product line was pulled out of service and the company humiliated on a worldwide stage. So no, a 757MAX wouldn't have been "better."

If you looked up "flight attendant uniform" in the dictionary this is exactly what you'd see. Monochromatic dark blue fabrics, knee-length skirts, superfluous scarves (no one wears a silk scarf with a suit jacket in the real world), and generic suits on gentlemen.

My money's on additional destinations on Allegiant, since G4 just opened a base there. Not sure what the new destinations would be, but probably second-tier sun cities. Nothing to get excited about, unfortunately.

The obvious disadvantage is that we're all trained to ignore automated announcements and therefore more likely to miss relevant announcements. Once you've heard "The curb is for immediate loading and unloading..." a hundred times you stop listening to automated announcements.

I fly exclusively DL and I will pay extra (within reason) or take an earlier/later flight to connect at DTW instead of MSP. DTW is modern, efficient, well-laid-out and beautiful. MSP is the ninth circle of airport hell.

I absolutely hated it when it first came out, but it's grown on me. The eagle logo device works well across all their platforms, and overall the whole thing does a good job of communicating not just American Airlines, but that it's from the United States. Easily comes in second-place for US liveries...
