A news source of unknown quality says that the new Qingdao airport should be opening August 12, just over a month away. This comes about a week after the new Chengdu Tianfu airport opened. China is really on a roll. What other greenfield airports are imminent? How’s the progress in Xiamen and Dalian...Jump to post
On a similar note are there two airports in balkanabat? One just south of the city and one in jebel nearby according to google earth. Does anyone know the history of those strips? A quick Google search showed as of December 2020/January 2021 the government was accepting proposals for and planning a ...Jump to post
Yes, I believe it is exactly a price and slot issue. Slots less so at the height of corona, but JFK is more convenient for domestic flughts for relatively few peole vs LGA, and is much more expensive to fly to for an airline than EWR. EWR is sadly more expensive then JFK. People in return though do...Jump to post
You’ll probably see this more often while runway work is being completed, albeit without the theatrics of high winds. We were issued a bulletin this week to remind us to consider using 11/29 if at all possible to help keep the operation going as smoothly as we can. So it should make for some intere...Jump to post
Newark is landing runway 29. Again, nothing unusual or something pilots are lacking in skill to do, but still fun to see.Jump to post
I'm sad I wasn't aware of this happening. This is awesome! What upgrades are happening at other airports in the country?
And I see El Palomar is closing it's passenger services as well? I guess that was just something to help AEP get less busy while they worked on this.
I know a lot of the German car companies have been having a real shortage of supplies from the pandemic. Mercedes has been having trouble producing enough massaging seats and active electronic suspensions, and BMW has been having trouble with supplies of their ventilated seats and their high end aud...Jump to post
The first diversion someone eluded to on February 18th into CUN was do to a hydraulic leak in the B system. I'll let an aircraft mechanic explain what the B system is and what it controls I don't know that is all the report state. Great, thx for info team. I guess this is part of the beauty of having a 13,000 ft runway (28R). Are there any other similar setups at any other US airports, i.e. where departing flights launch from somewhere other than a threshold? I've been flying for years and I've never seen it. Denver maybe? I...Jump to post
The Hasid populations of New York and Jerusalem are notoriously non-compliant when it comes to COVD restrictions, distancing, and mask use. They also often don't pay taxes and because of that don't get trash pickup. It is an embarrassment to my religion and culture. It's likely that there were so ma...Jump to post
As I look at the 1R approaches on FR24, it has me thinking, why not create an approach that lines up on I-280 and the Crystal Springs reservoir SW of Menlo Park? It could increase throughput to allow 28L/R landings and a third landing with LAHSO on 1R. This assumes good winds and clear visibility. ...Jump to post
I know one Bulgarian in the New York area... I think she travels to visit once every year or two... so boom. One passenger every few years. Easily enough to fill the plane!Jump to post
It pains me to say this as a strong BLM supporter, but both parties are very in the wrong here. The Captain acted like a completely bratty three year old, and should have been wearing a mask. He could have handled the situation so much better. However, why wouldn't the woman just put the hat in her ...Jump to post
Google earth offers a feature where you can see imaging from many different times. I use that a lot. Most airports have imagery that's been updated since the pandemic, so many major airports can be seen with planes stored.Jump to post
My mom lived in Japan in the late 80s and used to travel back to New York to visit relatives every summer. She would purchase a United around the world ticket from Seoul (it was cheaper), but book individual flights separately, and spend a month going from Tokyo to New York with extended stops in De...Jump to post
I was looking at Tashkent airport today on google maps and noticed a new airport being built to the northeast, not too far away. Did some research, looks like it's called Vostochny airfield and used to be a military base, being repurposed as a secondary airport until a greenfield site replaces them ...Jump to post
209 million passengers in 2019 isn't 'that much traffic'? https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkish-airports-serve-almost-14-mln-passengers-151914 Not compared to other countries. For example it's less than Germany, which handled nearly 227 million passengers in the same year (2,7 flights per year ...Jump to post
Apparently, the asphalt will also last a lot longer if they do it all in one go so it's pretty cost effective. Afaik, all commercial flights have been stopped anyways from HPN, and every time I've flown there recently (I'm based out of HPN) there have been almost no other small planes.Jump to post

Hey there! Im planning to travel to Spain in April with my family. Awhh, so awesome to see all those 744’s lined up... and sad too knowing they won’t be around long. What aircraft will BA use to replace the 744 on LHR-JFK? 773? There are a huge number of airlines in this world, I would say most, that don't have a retro jet. There is no world outside the USA, how could you forget this? What is really needed is an African open skies agreement...and then for countries to emulate Ethiopia in managing their airlines (or have it privately done as Kenya Airways and Air Mauritius are). Not every country can support a major hub, and that has to be recognized. A Pan-African open-skies wou...Jump to post
Interestingly enough, this looks like it’s going to make the 77W from NRT sit on the ground for 21+ hours at LAX. Also, including direct one stop no change if plane services, this makes SFO 31 flights per week. That’s insane.Jump to post
Lots of people are making guesses, but only a few have the right answer. They keep saying and people keep not listening. By far the main reason is connecting banks and timing for hubs. I know many people from Westchester that have also used Norwegian from SWF, and it’s very convenient for people in Mt. Kisco, Edgemont, even White Plains and Scarsdale. SWF takes less time to get to than JFK or EWR, and I’ve heard nothing but praise.Jump to post

There are already flights from CTU to JFK, LAX, and SFO.
