If AA wanted they have the planes they just haven't wanted to and or don't have the slots. I personally believe if there is the will there is a way and AA hasn't wanted that said way (NYC) for awhile. Planes could and can be rebuilt. Long-time reader - first post here. I think all of this back and forth on AA at JFK vs. PHL is interesting and instructive, but what this announcement says to me is that AA is (yet again) in a position where it doesn't have the right aircraft for what it's trying to do.
