Anyone got a lead on what the Bills will be flying to London?
Edit: Found a VS A350-100 scheduled to arrive from JFK as VS945P.
That should end all the 787 talk, unfortunate but expected. Its about time. For as long as I've been on A.net the 787s to DL rumor has just refused to die. First it was that DL wouldn't cancel the NW order despite all signs showing they didn't want them. Then after DL cancelled it, rumors started t...

I haven't met a single avgeek who hates the DC-9 and its progeny. Does some of the general public dislike it because its louder than more contemporary designs? Maybe, but I haven't heard much about it.
Jump to postThanks for sharing! It's really interesting to see all the different interiors, and how they reflect the styles of their times.
Jump to postThe DC-8 is 5 abreast seating which is even more narrow than the 757 or narrowbody airbus and has up to a 6500 mile range with the -62 model. Not trying to get too nitpicky and off topic here, but the DC-8 has 6 abreast seating in (almost) all configurations. The DC-8 being designed for 6 abreast s...
Jump to postBe grateful for having a girlfriend who will go plane spotting with you. It's always wonderful to have someone who supports your passions even if they don't necessarily share them At risk of getting OT, its definitely not lost on me how lucky I am to have found someone who is so supportive of my in...
Jump to postN365FE still flying. In the air right now actually. I have a FR24 alert on this bird, it's just so damn awesome she's still flying after all these years! To think where commercial aviation was when she entered service with UA to where it is now, while she's dutifully hauling packages for FX is just...
Jump to postSorry if I'm bumping up an old thread, but I thought it would be better than starting a new one. I was wondering if anyone has any more info on FX's MD-10 fleet plan. Per planespotters.net, the last retirement took place about a year and a half ago. Are they still planning to retire them as they com...
Jump to postDon't forget how smoky the JT8Ds are too! As others have stated, it all comes down to bypass ratio. With that said, I absolutely love how loud the MD80s are. A few months ago I was spotting with my girlfriend, and there was a 744 departing, preceded by an MD88. I told her how loud the MD88 would be,...
Jump to postIt works well that my girlfriend usually prefers the aisle, so fighting over the window seat is never really a concern. Additionally, she knows how much I love aviation and the window seats, and has even taken middle seats to be next to me. We've been pretty lucky though, on our longest flight toget...
Jump to postSo far, much of the response activity has been centered around the larger upstate airports. I've always been interested in what sort of terminal facilities are in the smaller airports such as Plattsburg, Ogdensburg, Elmira etc. If anyone has any photos of these airports it would be good to see. Tha...
Jump to postI find it a little surprising AA doesn't fly to JFK (or LGA) from BUF, ROC or SYR. I know there's a fair amount of capacity already on these routes from DL and B6 (and to EWR with UA), but there are a fair amount of markets served from JFK not served by CLT or PHL, and requiring a backtrack to conne...
Jump to postI don't want to make flying special again, and I say it as an enthusiast. I enjoy the feeling of flight. That is enough for me. I don't need lunch and a glass of wine on a 2.5 hour flight from MSP-BDL. I want to be able to get a ticket at a decent fare while getting there safely. The rest is just a...
Jump to postUA has retrofitted all their B738s/B739ERs also, so there is obviously an economic reason for doing so! They've also installed scimitars on most if not all their 73Gs, and even some 757s too! It seems that UA has been the most aggressive installing scimitars, AA the least, with DL somewhere in betw...
Jump to postAll of this is based off the types currently bookable on major airlines, so unfortunately no 707.
First is any type or sub-type I haven't flown before, the most notable being the 787, A350, MD-90.
After that, I will always try to get any DC-9 variant, 747, or 767.
This virtue signalling from Delta and United is not a smart move. If they had done nothing, only a small minority would even care or know about these discounts. But now they've angered not only the 5 million NRA members, not only the nearly 40% of households that own guns - they're pushing away the...
Jump to postI really don't mind the CR2, its the window placement that bothers me the most. They enable me to fly to and from smaller, more convenient airports where the security line is minimal, and boarding doesn't take that long. It probably helps that I've never been on a CR2 flight longer than 1.5 hours, a...
Jump to postThe people who killed EA were greedy unions refusing to negotiate a fair contract where everyone would win. It wasn’t bc of one or two or three guys who wanted to win. Jump to postThanks for the report, I love the Dash, and am sad to see it leaving US fleets. I caught two segments on UAX -200s last year, and I'm afraid they'll be the last tprops I catch roe quite some time.
Jump to postIf UA sticks with 6 daily departures and AS remains at 13, that's real close to 10 departures per gate split among 2 cx which means real tight coordinated scheduling between the two cx. (It's hard enough for a single carrier, such as WN, to work 10 flights thru 1 gate but for 2 independent cx to ma...

Do aircraft typically get new tail numbers after a merger? I know some people have already answered, but to back them up, usually no. Not only has DL kept the NW registrations, their 717s acquired from Airtran have AT regs, and to go back even further some of the 75S fleet still has TW regs. AA a/c...
Jump to postI couldn't make it to BUF today because of the weather. If anyone there sees this, could you please post pictures and/or video of the arrival and departure!

It's a DC-10
Looks like people beat me to it! Would also concur that it's AA, or possibly KLM
The Bills charter flight number is DL8865, you can set an alert on FR24 or flightaware to stay updated. Ship 6314 is scheduled to depart DTW at 9 am and arrive in BUF at 10. It is then scheduled to depart for FLL at 1 and arrive at 4 pm. From experience, the charters never arrive on time, so I would...
Jump to post12/17 ICN-DTW is the final scheduled flight. Delta just had a Skymiles auction through SkyMiles Experiences to bid for seats on the farewell tour flights. Auctions were: Hangar Party in Detroit Farewell Flight (DTW-SEA) and Hangar Party in Seattle Farewell Flight (SEA-ATL) and Hangar Party in Atlan...
Jump to postThey will normally leave BUF the day before so Saturday 12/30 about 100 or 200pm local, look for the aircraft to ferry into BUF about 1000 or 1100am that morning. About 2.5 hours flight time to FLL. What DL will do with the aircraft after arrival at FLL I do not know but guessing they will leave it...
Jump to postThe back can, from my experience be very noisy during takeoff, but so is the 777. During cruise I haven't found the 744 to be noticeably louder then the 777. I've never flown on a 748, so I couldn't tell you about that, and I'm sure the 350, and 787 are quieter.

With how difficult JT8D parts have become to find, I have wonder how much research a new operator did prior to EIS.
It looks like a 744 is scheduled to take the Bills to LA, as the usual DL 8865. Looks to be ship 6306! I'll be there to spot her coming in and leaving, not every day that there's the opportunity to spot a 747 at BUF!

Jump to postThe very last time I flew on the mighty NW 747-400 was back in 2009, from Hong Kong to Tokyo-Narita, en-route back to Fort Lauderdale, and thought of adding few pics as a great memory of one of the greatest airlines, and I'm sure you will like them,as well as fellow a.netters. Thanks so much for sh...
Jump to postNot to burst your bubble, but everything I can find online about 881AS, is that it's a 200. It appears to have 2B1 engines, which is more or less what makes a CRJ a 200 vs a 100 (with 2A1 engines). CR1s and 2s have CF-34-3 engines. Flightradar24 had it as a CR1, so when I boarded, that's what I saw...
Jump to postGood report. I too will miss the 744s. Thanks! I'm sure everyone on A.net will miss them! Cool experience being invited to the cockpit. Thanks for the report! I'm pleasantly surprised to see that seat-back IFE is similar to that of the newest DL birds (739s/A321s)...at least at this vantage. I would've assumed they'd have the older version that the 763-nonER fleet still has and that has relatively recently been replaced on the 75X ...
Jump to postThank you all for reading my TR and the the kind comments! Knowing that many of you enjoy reading them makes me want to do more. Jump to postI know it's not strictly on topic, but I figured it would be better to post in here than create a stand alone thread, but does anyone know what's going on with 6309? I believe it was a compressor stall in the #4 engine on climbout.
Here's mine: Flown: AC 33 YVR-SYD and AC 34 SYD-YVR 7760 miles flown on 77Ls. My start/end destination was YYZ, so each way I got to add a nice 5 hour transcon to that as well. Jump to postSurprised the A350 isn't being used on LAX-SYD. I thought I had heard DL wanted to put the 350 on the SYD route as a way to increase competitiveness with QF/AA/UA but I suppose the 77L is equally suited for the LAX-SYD run. The 777s will be getting cabin upgrades to more or less match the hard prod...
