Re: Virgin Atlantic to announce new US route

If the emphasis is indeed on ‘connect with Virgin Atlantic’ I’d say it’s likely a DL hub. SLC could fit the bill. UK originating traffic to Zion, ski resorts, etc. Vegas is also close and many Britons like fly-drive packages through the Western US (which are available through Virgin Holidays). On th...

Re: United New International Routes October 28, 8:00 a.m. ET

Is LO coming back next year with seasonal JFK-KRK? If not, I could see UA adding it seasonally from EWR. VFR traffic from NJ/NY plus it’s a growing area for tourism. Would also echo the recent ‘out-of-the-box’ adds like EWR-TFS and EWR-PMI.

Re: A350 Dimmable Windows will be standard from next Year

The windows do automatically “clear” on the 787 when you descend through 10,000 feet but unless the crew lock them clear at that time a pax can darken them again. I’m sure the 350 will be similar. Not all carriers require windows to be open/clear for take off and landing though. In the US it is a r...

Virgin previously served NAS on the 744 back in 2005. Not sure when it stopped. The new flights will be operated on the 789.

Re: LHR. What's open? What's closed?

T2 and T5 are open, meaning T3 and T4 are closed at the moment. T3 should be reopening when there are enough flights to/from countries designated ‘green’ by the UK Government. T4 will probably re-open a bit later. I’m not sure if AA will stay in T5. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that? Th...

Re: US citizens traveling to UK ?

I flew RIC-ATL-LHR last week. You definitely have to quarantine at a residence or hotel unless you have some sort of exemption. As noted, you can pay additionally to ‘Test and Release’ on day 5 to end your quarantine earlier. You can make a shorter trip, say for 4 days, but you would just be in quar...

Re: How Much is Traffic Recovering?

I picked up my cousin at MCO yesterday. He flew NK flight 841 from RIC to MCO. The aircraft was an A320. He said literally every seat was full. Packed. That got me to wondering how much traffic has picked up now that Covid vaccines have been widely disseminated in America. As an aside, we have many...

Re: Heathrow says airport queues are becoming 'untenable'

Is the fact that the UK has left the EU also partially responsible for this, so now EU citizens have to go through the regular immigration? I flew into LHR yesterday from the US. The e-gates at the border are closed. All passengers are now required to speak to an immigration officer in person so th...

Re: What happened to ATA Airlines?

Pilots that come from other airlines to your airline always reminisce. All of a sudden airlines like TWA Midway and AirTran were great airlines to work for. One day a Captain gave me that line about ATA. I couldnt help myself...I asked “what are you kidding me?” Well I too once worked for TZ and I ...

My question is why would airlines offer inventory to airports that are not yet allowed to receive international flights like DEN and MSP and who would book a seat on a flight to an airport that is not authorized. I'm confused what you mean by "not yet allowed to receive international flights.&...

Re: Transatlantic flights between US and UK in the Post Covid-19

I’ve had to fly TATL twice out of LHR since the pandemic began, the most recently being a week ago. I was actually surprised as there were more people on the flights than I had anticipated. Of course it was nowhere near as full as it would normally be this time of year but the J cabin on my flight h...

Re: CC yearly flight limit

I think you should clarify that this is a European regulation. The FAA in the United States, for example, does not cap flight attendant hours to 900 in a rolling 12 month period. If you are on a 50% contract, it is possible that you are only flying two long haul trips a month. The scheduling also de...

Re: Airlines Job Cuts

I know that some foreign carriers will not be using seniority as the primary criteria to do f/a layoffs. Some of the US carriers have furlough clauses already in place for some of the unionized work groups and as others have said, they often use inverse seniority. I believe the terms can be negotiat...

Interesting development. I can’t imagine DL being thrilled about this. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them find a slot at LHR to launch RDU-LHR as a response. But congrats to AS/AA! SEA is definitely busting at the seams at the moment waiting for the expansion to wrap up. AA’s RDU-LHR Flight has hu...

Re: Has Delta Ever Run A Daylight ATL-LHR?

And that 8am JFK-LHR on a VS A346 does well. There are many pax connecting from that flight to VS’ LHR-LOS and LHR-DEL flights as they both depart late evening. DL can at least share in the revenue on the JFK-LHR portion of those connecting itineraries.

[quote="SCQ83"]Unbelievable they cannot accommodate all that people from MCO to LON or JFK to LON, specially in the beginning of November. It’s the end of half-term (school holidays) for many people in the UK. I reckon that there weren’t many available seats back to London and they had no ...
