Re: What would Pan Am look like today?

Today's Pan Am would not be anything like Emirates. Emirates is great to connect the world via Dubai. Its smooth and easy. Why would anyone transit via the US with all the hassle and bad treatment of immigration and all? Have done both and unless I want to spend some time in the US I would always pr...

For some reason I had to check that it is 2017 and not 1948 to 1949. Of course there was no 744 back then, but still. :D Sorry, didn't follow you... Berlin airlift at end of WW2. Re: Airlines serve JFK for a notch on their belt or to make money?

Outside the US most people used to associate JFK with 'THE' airport for New York. I remember that it was only in the 80's or maybe early 90's that European airlines started to serve Newark as well. Once LH started serving Newark lots of people were confused as it was a completely unkown airport to m...

You find these zero dollar tours in Europe too. People are flown/bussed to Turkey or places like that and being offered 'fantastic bargains'. They cant really leave the tour that is strictly organized for the same purpose.

The "Pan Am factor" does not fit EK, as many in another thread stated. Just because they fly a bunch of Whalebuses and 77W's from a single, often extremely crowded hub, does not give the,m the right to be compared to Pan Am in the glory days. Congratulations for being the second to comple...

EK and Dubai are as unique for our times as PA was back then in the 50s,60s and 70s. But their business concepts are not comparable.
