At Small Planet (S5) it wasn’t a requirement to have someone seated at the overwing exits, which I always thought was weird. But then again they allowed e-cigarette use on flights so I can’t complain

The solution is actually pretty simple: lock the overhead compartments during takeoff and landing. The tech probably already exists, and while it would be expensive to implement it would certainly help save lives in situations such as this. Flew them a few times this year on the 321 on the LHR-VIE-LHR, all 6/8 flights I did were full midweek. My friend just came back from Mauritius and the flight was full both sectors, only around 4 seats on the way out in Y and 5 on the way back.

I know when Norwegian first opened Norwegian Air UK (DI) the first aircraft registered was a B737 with the Reg G-NRWY, that was a one off as now the registrations come in whatever sequence is available

Longhauler is correct, IFIRC immediately after the accident Monarch followed suit and made 2 people in flight deck compulsory but then decided to stop it as they realised it was then an untrained person going into flight deck and anything could happen during the time a crew member stands at the door...

Perfectly normal, some airlines don’t follow the 2 in flight deck rule and if the remaining pilot is ok with it then they can stay out and stretch their legs and chat. Normally FD are called every 30 minutes to make sure they’re ok and if they need anything so it seems fine to me.

My first flight was Manchester to Singapore on SQ’s B747 in 1996 (I was 3 months old but my mum hasn’t photos of me in a bassinet and of the plane so I guess that’s it!)

My first flight as crew was in 2015 for Jet2 on a B733 Leeds Bradford to Murcia
