Re: Delta-LATAM sign JV Agreement

One thing DL has going for them is the A220s they have in their fleet. DL could duplicate their DFW strategy where they connect MIA to the top X destinations, based on the connection needs of LA passengers, plus whatever O&D MIA passengers they might get. The A220s offer a good passenger experie...

Re: DL Portland Asia hub in the 1980's

Technically, DL never had a hub in SEA until about 4 years go, so DL is not re-creating another hub. NW had a hub in SEA. DL back in the 1980s did not want to compete with NW in SEA, so they established a gateway for Asia destinations in PDX.

Hi all, To be clear, I think it's less likely than not this actually happens. My take is that AA has enough value as a going concern that even if its debt load and years of mismanagement catch up with it, it'll go through another Ch11 cleansing rather than actually fail. I think outside of LHR, AMS, CDG, FCO, all other EU cities from the US will be on the chopping block and will not return until 2023 and beyond. With the exception of JFK, which will become the TATL hub for DL. I can see JFK maintaining FRA and ZRH for it's finance clients, maybe MAD, but the rest ar...

Since QR is helping out LATAM and might be a big stakeholder for the post-chapter 11 LATAM, DL might be trying to mend fences with QR so DL can continue their JV with LATAM. But when traffic is weak, you can’t afford to split up the few passengers across two US gateways or you’ll get two half-full intercontinental flights. In those times LATAM might prefer AA. That is way overly rosy thinking. AA offered way more connectivity at SCL, LIM, and GRU than DL - AA has multiple daily flights to MIA, DFW and often JFK.
