The article really doesn't make too much sense. There is no way a XLR is flying LTN to South India in a high density config with alt+rsv intact. The article just shows routes within a 4700nm radius which are clearly not possible.

Are BOM slots being handed out purely based on a/c availability?
If so, I think only the companies with large fleets (except AI of course) will get the biggest share of the pie.

The slots being temporary, is CSIA following the WSGs for slot redistribution?

I think by now it is very clear that the Indian market prefers price over anything - specifically the Tier 2 market. Also, it would be totally unfair for the government to make an airline give up a slot in BOM (kick out the LCCs in your terms). BOM just can't compete with NMIA in terms of convenience and demand.

AI is wrong no doubt but FAA is making a mountain out of a molehill. You don't give someone a sentence 20 years for a parking ticket.
The FAA should realize that there are a lot more factors that guarantee safety which are a lot more important when compared to faded seat belt signs.

The answer is quite obvious. Only major airports like Mumbai have the power of taking high cargo loads. So, even if there is potential, the business relies a lot on train and roads as feeders and this is why the cargo network can't develop.
