I can not understand the logic behind that. Opening a route because another airline did and cancelling it after they exit That's how the airlines protect their "turf." And what does that mean? They invest in opening the route and spend money catering, crew the flight, pay for additional r...

Or maybe the market can’t support two carriers? Gota give the local business and airport credit for trying new things. Seems like it may have been money better spent on trying to get AA to CLT. Regardless it’s tough to lose connectivity.

Because with the beyond perimeter slot they can offer something that others can't. Even as a ULCC that slot likely improves the yield on the route. There are a significant number of customers in DC that won't go past DCA to fly out of IAD. The route likely make better ROI than your suggested 3x fro...

Probably because of forecasted emplanements and the cost of operating the route. When Pen Air took the routes they did it as a tag on to LBL. Between AA at GCK and OO at LBL the area probably can’t support 300 seats per day.

At 1100nm and a 5 hour (roughly) round trip block time it pushes the 50 seaters to the limits of operations out of LGA. Blocking seats isn’t good for yields and may see better use of routing/slot utilization on E175 to other shorter more premium routes. Fare competition may appear low but there are ...
