Judging by the reports of the situation in AMS and various UK airports, I wouldn't call them the worst in Europe. Just very different from ARN's stellar performances when I visited/transited before.

When I studied in Sydney, it happened all the time where there was a requirement that you would check-in in person for departing overseas flights which led to situations where on SYD-AUH-FRA and SYD-SIN-DPS tickets I could check-in online for the second leg but not for the first one.
