Hi all, I'm sure i'm not the only one to have this thought. Why is it on the majority of TATL flights regardless of airline, the breakfast served in Y is minimal and threadbare? Aside from select flights on KL, BA and LH, breakfast in economy is seldom more than the likes of a puny bagel or a prepac...Jump to post
Large increase in service on MCI-SEA next summer, AS is adding an additional flight & DL is upguaging to a B738 from a E175. Assuming WN comes back, that would be 5 daily flights from MCI-SEA. The upgrades and flight increases are largely due to increased business traffic I.e Sprint’s merger wi...Jump to post

Disappointed but not surprised for reasons listed. Icelandair didn’t really fill a need. Few people are traveling between Iceland and KC so most passengers still have to connect. Might as well stick with Delta or United as at least their mileage plans are more useful. Small airline with limited reco...Jump to post
Bummer to hear but not surprised. I believe Kansas City (aside from CLE) was the only market where FI was the sole TATL operator.
However, with FI gone, what are the chances MCI could attract another flight? Say to AMS or LHR? I’m hopeful but not optimistic.
It's a non-sensical metric, in that it's a measure of demand from single U.S. airports to all of Europe . A flight, oh, MCI-LHR doesn't fix the alleged underserved problem - it just gives another connecting gateway. MCI already has one-stop services (via ORD, JFK, DTW, EWR, ATL, PHL...) to all of t...Jump to post
While I’m not holding my breath I’ll entertain the idea. An expanded VA that can effectively compete with BA would be welcomed however their North American wishlist is “interesting”. Why RDU, DEN and SAN? Denver is already served by three different carriers and is a Star hub. RDU is already served b...Jump to post
Updates - Icelandair traffic for July up 17.3%. Flights for 2020 are bookable (still 4x weekly) with the first starting May 15th. I believe MCI is the only US airport where FI is the sole TATL operator. - AS will discontinue service to SAN & SFO in 2020. Maybe UA will upgrade the route permanent...Jump to post
I’m guessing the 777X will take its place. There are no plans to make DEN A380 compatible and the 748 seats fewer passengers than the 744 with DEN being a consistently solid market for LH.Jump to post
Assuming this info is true might as well add MCI-LHR. FI has stuck around so I imagine BA would do even better with LHR being one of the largest unserved foreign routes from KC
PDX already has DL and TPA is served with LGW.
There is a rumor circulating from a local travel agent that FI will be permanently ending MCI-KEF service once the 2019 schedule concludes. If true, then i'm disappointed as I was under the impression the route was doing ok or at least would maintain a simple seasonal schedule. But to be honest the ...Jump to post
Rumor has it from a local travel agent that FI will not return to KC in 2020. Disappointed as I was under the impression the route was doing ok or at least would maintain a simple seasonal schedule. But to be honest the service really didn't solve a problem. Most KC passengers are not going to KEF s...Jump to post
FI's enplanements for May 2019 was 815 compared to May 2018 of 442. An 84% increase. How many more flights? 2019 service started on the 24th of May so I believe it totaled 5 flights for that month. I'm particularly paying close attention to this year of service since once the 2019 season concludes ...Jump to post
FI's first flight of the season begins today with four weekly flights instead of the initial three and when I last checked a few weeks ago today's flight was nearly sold out. Stronger bookings are anticipated this year. In other news, i've heard that airport reps have been making repeat trips to Ger...Jump to post
Edelweiss will re-start seasonal DEN flights this month with the A340-300 instead of the A333 per CAPA. As i'm sure some of you have already read, FI is dropping CLE this summer as well as Halifax due to MAX8 issues. I believe this just leaves MCI left from their recent expansion. This doesn't bode well for KC. However i've read from one of the airport directors that bookings are up this year and that...Jump to post
30% increase in TATL traffic during 2018 from MCI marketing director. Presumably through the introduction of FI. December hasn't been calculated yet but if numbers are slightly smaller than November (say 265 pdew) it would translate to roughly 138,000 passengers crossing the pond. Not bad considerin...Jump to post
Excellent news. Trexel are you suggesting the environments study is a waste? I don’t know a lot about them. Just a passive aggressive jab at govt bureaucracy. The airlines have finally reached an agreement for funding the new airport. Construction is now imminent however I believe the FAA still needs to finalize the environmental audit which was delayed during the govt shutdown. I don't see MCI-KEF lasting much longer. They only started that to counter WOW's STL-KEF route. Huh? You're out of the loop. FI posted an 84% average capacity for the first season which is pretty good for a new airline with virtually no local brand recognition. Better than what FI officials expecte...Jump to post
And MCI has seasonal FI to KEF. Its ironic how MCI has a TATL and not STL. I don't see MCI-KEF lasting much longer. They only started that to counter WOW's STL-KEF route. Huh? You're out of the loop. And MCI has seasonal FI to KEF.
Does anyone remember this thread in regards to proposed cities for future service?
The recent announcement may have something to do with it.
Aircraft upgrades and new airline speculation. - Icelandair is bringing back the 757 on certain days late September 2019 towards the end of the season. Seems odd to place the 757 when summer traffic is dying down. Perhaps they'll bring it back in 2020? - UA is (temporarily at least) upgrading MCI-IA...Jump to post

What is the realistic timeframe for the new terminal to open? late 2021? Around late 2021 to early 2022 is the goal. However, given the incompetence and mismanagement of the project who knows. Hello All, 2018 was an eventful year for Kansas City - First ever TATL service via Icelandair which saw great success (around 84% occupancy) - Further design changes to the new terminal project (an addition of gates from 35 to 39) - More delays and mishaps with the execution of the new terminal proj...Jump to post
Does anyone know what the PDEW is between MCI and FRA? I know that overall PDEW for Europe is around 300 per day which goes up to 500 during summer but i've read around here that Condor for example launched MSY with less than 50 Germany bound passengers.Jump to post

I would also argue the better performing economy but I don't want to get into that on a a.net forum. STL has a significantly larger economy and KC's isn't growing significantly quicker than STL's is. 20 years ago this would have been a laughable question to ponder back when STL had more than double the amount of traffic and was a hub for TWA/AA compared to Kansas City but today with TWA in the history books and AA having left to focus on ORD and DFW, STL barely has more than 2 million more passe...Jump to post

Well this is unfortunate but questions remain. - STL shelled out a serious subsidy for a two year service run (I believe about 2 million dollars?). What happens to the subsidy?
