How does QF deal with the Curfew at LHR? I understand that movements are based on noise levels. The 787 should be fairly quiet on arrival. Will they be allowed to land at 03:30? I have seen on FR24 that aircraft have circled to wait for the lifting of the curfew. QF9 wouldn't have the fuel for that...Jump to post
If this is the amount of padding they've put in the schedules, would be interesting to see how much quicker the eastbound is with a healthy tailwind and no night time curfew at PER to worry about (arriving middle of the day). But surely this will severely bit into your "alternative to watching...Jump to post

And only 10 Hours to go!
Only 3 hours into a 17+ hour flight and already at 350. That's amazing. Yes it is amazing. Considering EY487 which departed PER about 2 hours before QF9 is currently sitting at FL360 And the same equipment too! Is it a configuration thing? Remember QF only have 236 seats vs EY's 299. So potentially...Jump to post
I was thinking of heading down to Heathrow tomorrow to film the departure, however looking at the winds it looks like there’s a good chance of departure from 09R, so not the best for filming. Anyone else heading to watch the departure? Also, taking into account the 1 hour time change, is it schedul...Jump to post
Funny that someone says that quick snapshots of a flight is real aviation video and yet you are the one accused of sitting in a plane for multiple hours for ego value ! It's the other way around surely? I take my hat off for you doing this, there and back, as mentioned in the first great post, so m...Jump to post
Qantas B787-9 Dream)liner VH-ZND “Emily Kame Kngwarreye” to op the inaugural PER-LHR service.
I think you will find that normal people (enthusiasts) don't sit watching a Go-pro UNEDITED video for 17 hours, especially when it's pitch black inside and outside the cabin. Take off, landing and maybe a snap shot of the meal (max 5 minutes) would be quite enough for 99.9% of enthusiasts. I think ...Jump to post

I'd rather watch paint dry.
I'm on the inaugural flight from London to Perth, so you'll be able to fly the entire route virtually from the comfort of your home once I've uploaded a 17 hour video to YouTube of course :D Big Jet TV are also filming the departure from LHR live, and I'll be live at points throughout the flight :)Jump to post
I have always wondered why faulty data on pitots have tragic consequences, really really fast, I know, Its easy to criticize from your chair at home while sipping coffee while situational awareness goes out the window due to the nature of the emergency. There is a youtube video of a female first of...Jump to post
FR24 business accounts show indicated airspeed fed directly from the flight deck instruments. https://i.imgur.com/FIDEux4.jpg The IAS indicator recorded an airspeed of 784 knots when the groundspeed was just 380 knots. Unless the aircraft suddenly encountered a 400knot tailwind, the instruments were...Jump to post
Firstly ADS-B data, sampled at 10 sec intervals, is going to be quite suspect in these extreme circumstances. Somebody else can give you the technical reasons, I don't pretend I know every detail. ADS-B is sampled several times per second - as per the data FR24 linked - it only updates once every 1...Jump to post
FR24 does show indicated airspeed data on their business accounts. In the last few minutes of the flight, the IAS data seemed to fluctuate between 400 and 900kts as it climbed through 4,000ft up to 6,000ft. Just before the descent begins it is showing an IAS of 898kts. Clearly erroneous but could th...Jump to post

Aer Lingus did BOS-DUB in 4h37 minutes twice last week, surely this is closer to a record holder
Looking at the schedules it looks like BA have their last 767 flights scheduled on October 27 2018. 27OCT18 BA456/7 LHRMADLHR 0620-0940 1055-1215 BA902/3 LHRFRALHR 0705-0940 1055-1145 BA662/3 LHRLCALHR 1145-1820 1935-2235 BA632/3 LHRATHLHR 1315-1855 1955-2145 BA780/1 LHRARNLHR 1320-1655 1805-1950 Lo...Jump to post
I wonder if PVD also going well for them. Anyway I think MAN/BHX or maybe something more risky like ABZ or NCL can work. I know it's one flight, but when I did PVD-EDI the other week the flight was very busy with only a couple of rows empty at the back (possibly due to weight restrictions on the 73...Jump to post
Awful One of the greats of country music. It seems they were having mechanical issues and were waiting for the fire crews to arrive before attempting a landing, audio of the emergency dispatch crews has been released:

The Maho Beachcam is now destroyed, here are the final moments before it went down:
Looks absolutely insane.
It was indeed myself who filmed this incident. As ChrisKen mentioned I had just disembarked the aircraft after filming the flight, D81605 from PVD. There were two buses sent, this one and one at the rear (towards the nose of the aircraft). I was standing in the forward door of the front bus as I had...Jump to post
For me, it's crucial. I will pay any amount for a window seat. I begrudgingly paid over $100 for one flight for the 4 of us with AF on an upcoming flight, to avoid being stuck in the middle. I completely understand the concept and I like window seats too, but these are rather contradictory statemen...Jump to post
As someone who has never been to SXM, what's to stop them extending the runway the other way and moving the threshold back a few hundred meters? That way you keep the low landings over the beach (albeit a little higher) and remove the risk of people riding the fence. Either that or replace the concr...Jump to post
Interesting article that claims the Beacon Hill Road at the end of SXM's runway is to be rerouted amidst safety improvements following the death of the tourist. Safety fence to be moved further back to prevent people gettin too close. http://livestormchasers.com/2017/07/21/st-maarten-beacon-hill-ent...Jump to post
The Loganair Twin Otters use powerback at GLA too. I was onboard one that did it and filmed it: https://youtu.be/XnJvcZEu8Nk?t=25m34s It was awesome and totally unexpected. Not a KEF native but visited recently. There's no viewing terrace that I saw, but there are some good places to spot around the runway ends. Unfortunately the runway thresholds are a fair way inside the perimeter so the closest you get is when they fly over a few hundred metres from the end of the r...Jump to post
After my inbound 12 hour flight from Frankfurt (http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1366521), I had just 12 hours on the west coast of the USA before heading back to the airport for my return flight to London. Man I've always wanted to go on one of those, especially before they go at the end of this year. When we came back from Scotland a couple of weeks ago on a B757-200 ( EDI-ORD) I saw the the tip of Greenland. It was pretty. Anyway, I'm trying to get down to SFO to do SFO-LHR on the 747. I don't know if it changes anything, but I flew on UA901 a couple of weeks ago and while we left 40 minutes late, it wasn't shown as a 'late' flight, rather they updated the flight schedule about 2 hours before the flight and I got an email from Amadeus / CheckMyTrip advising me that the flight had ...Jump to post
I have always wanted to take a direct flight to the west coast of the US. Something about flying over Greenland and Northern Canada has always appealed to me, and the easiest way to do this would be to head from Europe to San Francisco. United still operate the B747-400 on this route, and when a che...Jump to post

Ryanair has its current livery since about 1987, at least I did find photos of BAC11s that already have the livery currently still in use Ryanair updated their livery in the early 2000s : 0259955,1971010 They also made a few minor modifications in the last few years - a slightly different shade of ...Jump to post
Nope you're wrong. Azerbaijan Airlines are still flying two. For now. They seem to be operating them on GYD-DME and GYD-DXB at the moment, but from the schedule they seem to drop down to just GYD-DXB from the end of May and the DXB drops to an A320 from the end of August. I heard that BA were operating the 772 on the LHR-MAD flight on the daily BA458/BA459 rotation. I also wanted to get on the Iberia A340-600 so this was a perfect opportunity to get the 772 and the 346 on one day. Fortunately I had a few Avios points and was able to get the outbound 772 flight in J f...Jump to post
