Re: Is DL taking delivery of A350’s from NRT to avoid tariffs?

Growing up we had a "nearly finished basement". There was a rough cut hole in the ceiling over the basement bannister that enabled us to tighten the bannister on the main floor from underneath. That hole justified the fact that the basement wasn't finished saving a significant amount of ta...

Re: Why no second commercial airport for Atlanta?

Don’t all the wealthy people live out of the city though? That’s why the braves moved. That's not why the Braves moved. They wanted upgrades to the old stadium the city wasn't willing to pay for. There is plenty of wealth within the city. Actually, you're both kind of off on that. The Braves were a...

Re: Happy birthday to 777 (United Airlines)

I used to live near EWR and being an #avgeek since my youth I never tired of driving up and down the NJTPKE and watching the traffic in parallel on maneuvers. Shortly after UA launched 777 service, my wife (now ex) and I went to the NY/NJ Airline Memorabilia Show and Sale. They had a limited time op...

Re: Boeing to close 777x and 787 order before month-end

The "777X-a-Thon" is on right now for airlines ramping up the recovery curve. I bet there are some real sweetheart deals being offered by Boeing to new customers, "but for a limited time only!" Heck, there is almost-"Zero Percent Financing (to well-qualified customers)"...

Re: Why no second commercial airport for Atlanta?

It's also interesting to note that the city has purchased a large tracts of land in neighboring counties over the last 40 years to prevent the creation of a secondary airport. I live in Gwinnett County, a northeastern suburban county of Atlanta, which has Gwinnett Country Airport (LZU) or Briscoe Fi...

Re: DL takes the crown in NYC?

The EWR hub for PeoplExpress, Continental and United has been the busiest hub in the NYC market since the early Early Eighties. Delta beats the by a few dozen for 2019 and now the industry has to start back at square one. While we're recounting the era right at the end of deregulation, let's consol...

Re: ARFF vehicle at Atlanta I-85 bridge fire

Indeed there were two trucks deployed according to the local media. They made small work out of the PVC fire where the conventional AFD had their hands full. To quote one newscaster last night "This is so serious, they've brought in two critical trucks from Hartsfield." This is going to be...
