Re: First TLV - UAE flight

The reason for El Al continuing the Red Sea route is that Saudi Arabia has only approved Israeli commercial overflight on flights to the UAE and Baharain, and not beyond. Despite the statements by prominent political figures to the contrary, that is the current reality. It is not documented, but it ...

Re: Israel and Jordan signed an agreement which allows Jordan's and Israel's airspace to be used
What might have happened if an Israeli aircraft had a decompression over the Red Sea and the closest place to land was in KSA?

Alternates include Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada, and other Egyptian airports, Asmara, and Djibouti.

Re: Israel and Jordan signed an agreement which allows Jordan's and Israel's airspace to be used

Good question regarding continuation of the "uncoordinated flights over the Red Sea". I assume they will be discontinued now with Israel gaining overflight rights to Saudi Arabia. And southbound routes to JNB can now overfly Sudan, so I'm not sure why it would be necessary for Israeli airl...

Re: ELAL temporarily ceases ops

So what routes will most likely be cut? I have a feeling they will start with Vienna as I doubt they are making money while competing with both Wizz Air and Austrian Airlines. Would be interesting to know if they are making money on their India and China flights given that they have to make a huge ...

UPDATE: 27-year-old investor buys controlling share of El Al (was: El Al temporarily ceases ops)

El Al is flying a second Australia repatriation flight today -- and the first non-stop operation between Tel Aviv and Melbourne. https://www.flightradar24.com/ELY085/244e3b83 El Al was to have operated three TLV-MEL roundtrips in March and April to test the market and operational consideration for l...

Re: Why no US3 to Egypt ?

Both Delta and United fly to Tel Aviv. Delta fly to some other African destinations but not in North Africa. And Of course American doesn't fly anywhere around these areas.
Isn't there some sort of legal reason that AA doesn't fly to Tel Aviv? I vaguely remember that TWA had some sort of fi...

More realistic time distance estimate would be using TLV-JIB-MEL routing. http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=tlv-jib-me ... 2%25U%2212

Re: United to 50 states

It was in the 80s. I have the timetable with the cover reading "First to fly to all 50 states", but I don't have access to it at the moment so can't check the date. And yes, the did fly to DE, with Wilmington service (to ORD if I recall).

It's double daily during summer season, with 747-400 and 777 (the latter sometimes flown by 777-300ER).

Re: Turkish Airlines increases Washington DC to 10 weekly

Hopefully this leads to lower prices.. The US3 bitch about the pricing competition from the ME3 plus TK, but as a lifelong DC resident I can tell you they are never the cheapest option from IAD.. I fly to Thailand at least twice a year and they are always the most expensive option by several hundre...

Re: AS 1080 (A320) Diverts to MSP

I'm on the flight. All normal until the FA's were notably busy about 90 minutes in. Then an a request over the PA for medical personal onboard. A ding immediately resulted. About 30-45 minutes later the captain announced we'd be diverting for the medical situation. No other information was provided....

Regarding whether it was actually DL gate agents that assisted -- I based that statement on the announcement from the flight deck as we pulled up to the gate. I was already on the Gold reservations phone line for re-accommodation as we taxied in -- so...

RE: Alaska Airlines Flight 1 DCA/IAD To SEA

I was on the flight. Scheduled as an 8:00 am departure, it was obvious that the delays, due to the de-icing bottlenecks, would be much longer than the optimistic pronouncements from the gate agents. There were a couple inches of snow on the ground, temperature about 27F, and snow falling. Sure enoug...

RE: RJ DXB AMM Lands In TLV

RJA regularly flies over Israel en route from AMM to destinations in Europe. Here's the deal: Since most of the surrounding Arab countries refuse overflight rights to Israeli operators, and to non-Israeli airlines on flights to/fr <acronym title="Tel Aviv (-Jaffa) - Ben Gurion (Lod) (TLV / LLBG), Is...
