Re: JetBlue launches fleet review with E190 cost concerns

What scope limits concerning codeshares does B6 operate under? Standard -- no more than 76 seats and under 86k pounds?

Re: Do regional airlines get any profit from flights with a mainline carrier?

Many costs are passed through. Fuel and landing fees are fully reimbursed. Crew costs are reimbursed but subject to a cap negotiated at the time the Capacity Purchase Agreement was hammered out. The CPA may allow for scheduled increases in crew costs, but these increases are not a blank check. If th...

Re: Engine weight on Embraer E175E2 vs E175

For that matter, Embraer has failed to specify which version of the 175 E2 they are talking about -- STD, LR or AR -- when they refer to a MTW of 97,767 pounds. I'm assuming that the E2 will be available in the same different configurations as the E175, but it matters which version the reference is ...

And I had fat finger syndrome on that post. The length of the E175 is 31.68 m

Engine weight on Embraer E175E2 vs E175

Much has been made of the E175 E2's problems at getting in under the maximum scope weight of 86,000 pounds and thus its difficulty opening up sales opportnities to regional carriers. The LR version the original E175 tipped the scales at 85,520 lbs MTOW. The STD range version came in at 82,700 lbs. a...

Re: Seat 51F on a 767 - unique to Rouge?

There is a whole Row 51DEF on the planes. On the older seat maps 51DE were not shown because they were never sold to (I believe) keep the plane at 280 seats for 7 FAs, https://beta.aircanada.com/content/dam/aircanada/portal/images/fleet/seatmap/767-Rouge-01.jpg I'm used to the US rule of 1 FA for e...

RE: Plane Crash Archeology

There's a gem of a little book, "A Missing Plane" by Susan Sheehan. It tells the story of a US bomber found decades after it went down in WWII in the junglle of Papua New Guinea. The bulk of the story tells of the efforts to identify the remains, locate family, and help them plan funerals for men th...

RE: 19 Students Barred From AI SFO Flight

Reminds me of a story that ran in the Washington Post many, many years ago. Seems that a school in DC (I hesitate to call it a University) was recruiting (preying on might be a better term) prospective students in Africa. Glossy brochure with a picture of the US Capital on the cover. Reality was a r...
