Re: N400PW Ditches in the Pacific

Excellent news they are all safe! We were able to give atc via CPDLC and then a direct SATCOM call their exact location, altitude, airspeed and heading. We did this repeatedly and then we plotted it to verify where they were and where they were heading. We gave ATC the color of the airplane, the fa...

Re: Airlines launch ‘flights to nowhere’

I saw this on MarketWatch and thought is was a joke at first. The flights included Wi-Fi text messaging service on board as well as a meal service, and the option of upgrading to business class. I can't believe people would actually pay money for this. It's not cheap, $780 for coach. Why would any ...

Re: What happened to the Soviet Airliner manufacturers?

Why did you add PZL to the design bureau? PZL was never part of any soviet program. Couple of PZL factories built planes for Antonov (AN-2 about 10k of them, and AN-28 few hundred of them). MiG 15/17 and 19 were built in Poland on a license. MiGs destined for PoAF were called Lim, and MiGs destined...

Re: Air France Paris to Kinshasa to Brazzaville to Paris

For those disenchanted by the triangular routing with short hop between BZV and FIH, let me assure you this is nothing new. I remember about a decade ago I was flying with a belgian captain - an ex-SABENA guy - we were doing triangular with the relatively short hop between DAM and AMM and he was tel...

Re: Belgium 10 yr dry lease 2 falcon 9-x for 124 million Euros

Firstly I suggest the title is changed as no Falcon 9-X exists. The article is clearly mentioning Falcon 7X. Secondly USD 140mio for 2 brand new 7Xs is reasonable. I can't read dutch but I guess the deal includes "FalconCare" as well as gold engines maintenance program for the duration of ...

Re: aircraft losses in natural disasters

First I have to point out I find this being one of the most interesting and original topics lately so thank you for that TFFIP. I'm sure the members here will come up with interesting collection of events. The biggest event that came up on my mind was the volcano eruption in Congo(near Goma) which s...

Dimples at the lower part of the aft fuselage on this 757 - what is it?

Hi guys, excuse my maybe dumb question for someone more knowledgeable but doing my airplanes spotting I noticed the pattern of "dimples" at the lower aft section of the fuselage of this Air Astana's 757(P4-FAS, pictured below). I think I noticed these on many other 757 frames(but I don't t...

Re: AC 787 Emergency landing at YUL

Just to clarify the first post - the flight was from YUL to PVG(Shanghai Pudong, China) and not to PDG(Padang Minangkabau, Indonesia) however it would be nice to see AC's Dreamliner in Padang for sure ;)
