Re: CCTV in Aircrafts

The A320's i fly (or at this point it's more like used to fly  ) all have a camera system available for us to view in the cockpit, the cameras are watching from the cockpit door into the cabin and one each above L1/R1 to monitor, it's for when we want to go out or let someone in to check nobod...

So is YK-AZB the old Olympic 300 or the Mahan 600?

I'm guessing 'ZB is the Ex Mahan A346, never seen it in real life, unlike the -300 'ZA which comes to the UAE on a very regular basis, makes me feel a bit small when it parks next to my A320

Re: Delhi air so polluted planes diverting

I fly into Delhi at least once a month, the visibility can get very, very bad sometimes, especially at night and around dawn and dusk. Jaipur is another one that's awful for visibility (and is also relatively close to Delhi), went there yesterday and reported vis was 1200m with a very heavy smell of...

Re: Flight detours due to geopolitical instability

I fly for an airline based in the ME, whenever we fly to Beirut we fly along the northern border of Saudi before skirting the edge of Jordan/Israel at Aqaba/Eilat before turning north over Egyptian airspace and then vice versa on the return, we even have a company NOTAM saying be careful in the area...

Re: Longest A319 flight

Qatar uses it on the Doha-Yangon route. Due to airspace closures over Pakistan, Oman and the UAE, it is somewhat longer at the moment, about 2600 nm. Why is Omani airspace closed? Just for QR aircraft due to the on-going diplomatic fisticuffs Qatar is having with their Arab neighbours. Omani airspa...

Re: B737MAX Grounded Worldwide

Could any A320 pilots inform us whether the Flight Envelope Protection would push the nose down upon detecting a stall? Equally important would be whether Airbus FBW would ever correct a percieved stall based on a single set of sensor data. My understanding is they rely on input from three AoA sens...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

with a low hours FO and 8 crew, i find it highly unlikely (though i could be wrong) that there were 6 cabin crew, it seems more eplausible that it could've been a line training flight for the FO, with 3 members of cockpit crew and 5 cabin crew on board. Just a thought. Edit: It looks like Ethiopian ...

Re: Pakistani Airspace to remain Closed till 4th March, with exceptions

I've flown TK 708/709 a couple of times, and the route is Turkey/Iran/Pakistan. The route now with the resumption to Pakistan shows TK 708/709 Turkey/Iraq/Persian Gulf/UAE (over Dubai) and the Arabian Sea to Pakistan, with the same way back to Turkey. Why would they avoid Iran completely? Usual rou...

Re: Tensions in South Asia - Pakistani and North Indian Airspace Shut Down

I was meant to do PEW tomorrow morning, just got put onto standby with rostering remaining hopeful that by tonight, Pakistani airspace will open once again and tomorrows flight schedules will go ahead as planned. As per NOTAMS from the Pakistan CAA, the closure is in effect until 2359 this evening, ...

Re: Xiamen Airlines 737-800 involved involved in runway excursion at MNL, left engine detatched from the aircraft

My Mrs was on a PAL flight into MNL last night, her flight got diverted into SGN and i'm guessing the crew timed out since they just got sent to a hotel. Looks like no heavies are getting in or out of MNL until tomorrow morning

Re: Hainan Airlines at Hilo (ITO)

I think I saw a Hainan Airlines 737 at Hilo Airport (ITO) on the Big Island in Hawaii yesterday. I don't see it as a bookable option on their website but a Google search suggests it flies from Seattle and onto Guam. Does anybody know if this is a regularly scheduled island hopping service? Or maybe...

Re: Inaugural QF MEL-PER-LHR this Saturday 24 March

Whats interesting is that fr24 seems to show it as having flown from DXB to LHR on the 24th as QF9 as well! I'll chalk it up to fr24 being confused, but it's on ZND's flight history which is odd! Shame if she was here in Dubai and i missed her! [url] https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/vh-zn...

Re: 2 Fatalities on a Beach Due to Emergency Landing

Having done the core flying part of my own training with a flight school in Portugal (different base), AND having flown over that exact same beach when we flew out to Cascais from our base, i can say that the crew in this incident would have had two choices due to dense urbanisation around the area....
