As far as I know, she usually uses Flexjet and tends to fly on one of their G450s. If she was flying non-stop from the Los Angeles area to ASU, however, she'd have needed something with more range. Is it standard to make an emergency landing after a lightning strike? I know that an inspection is us...

I had a friend growing up in the 70s whose Dad was a very senior FE on a 727 at UA. He flew up and down the west coast and was home every night. And another friend’s dad was a CA on a UA DC-10. He flew overseas and was away a lot more - as one would expect. It’s good to have options.

So much for the McDonnell Douglas’ much vaunted TQMS (Total Quality Management System) they rolled out in the mid-80s. Seems that culture came over in the merger and its fruits are exposed.

It may not be a Happy New Year at DFW. Strong westerly winds are forecast which can have a dramatic effect on operations. The saving grace is the winds are expected to shift to the North by mid-afternoon.

Saw a cross-field approach to 31L around noon today. Later, I saw a 18R departure where they made a 90 degree turn to the West shortly after getting airborne. Wow.

Duct taping any passenger to a seat, as happened on F9 last week, and now on AA this week seems like a huge liability issue. What happens in the event of an emergency evacuation if crew can't get the tape removed in time and the passenger is stuck? Or the passenger vomits (assuming tape over mouth)...
