The Southwest model suffers greatly from the lack of a hub system. Not being able to pull down markets due to how the flights/aircraft are routed is hurting. Also like all the airlines an unencumbered asset changes in value based on the market. What might be valuable today may be worthless tomorrow...

COVID-19 means airlines want to get rid of older, expensive planes and fly newer, more efficient jets. I also agree the MAX shall continue and sneak back in as airlines rebuild from this.

The fixed version will not be the same plane that went down in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

I could see WN reducing to just OAK and SJC to HNL...maybe one to OGG.

I think a few inter island flights will remain, maybe one early and one late to each of the 4 cities from HNL.

If you're WN, is this a good time to happen while the fleet is already shrunk? Or is a double whammy possibly with the MAX and Coronavirus.
