Ground speed vs. air speed. These aircraft were traveling at normal cruise speed but the tailwinds were in excess of 250mph.

Have any of the MAX8 frames gone through their D checks yet? The first ones were delivered in 2017 so it's right around when they would start getting them. I wonder if / when they do the D checks will they find similar loose bolts throughout the aircraft like they did when inspecting the MAX9s?

What source are you using to determine if an aircraft has the plugs or not? Eyeballs. Doors with plugs have "regular" looking windows (rectangular/square-ish). Actual "real" doors have the round port hole. See images below. Yes but that doesn't really help confirm if the specifi...

From a US perspective, not a big impact really. Most European tier 1 and tier 2 cities are still available via a one-stop routing with Lufthansa on Star Alliance. Maybe a bit more overflying if you are going to northern Europe / Scandinavia but most of the continent was better served by LH anyway.

So how am I as a passenger supposed to feel at all confident in the 737-MAX? I mean, this is BAD. At the very least, I want the ETOPS certification pulled on all 737-MAX. The smaller the plane the harder you work. Widebody FO shows up, flys only part of the flight (spends most in the back as a movie/food critic), lands in some world class city for a long 30+hr layover then repeats it back to base. Do this schedule maybe 3-4 times a month and call it good. Narrowbody...
