Meridiana was a fairly successful leisure airline before Qatar Airways and Air Italy came into the picture, so if they play their cards right I can see this working out. But they will need to be cautious and take things slow.

This thread will be closed soon, so I’ll just speculate a bit. I’ve always wondered about the theory of a remote hijacking using the aircraft’s computers. There’s no evidence of that of course, but parts of it make sense. The precise course changes, potentially incapacitated crew, etc. Just a thought.

I think it looks pretty good. It's not dated at all and the detailing on the tail is a nice touch. I saw an American 777 at Heathrow and I thought it was great. It's instantly recognizable (not as much as the AA was but oh well) and patriotic.

I’ve heard that the current gear and possibly wing are maxed out at the 10. That’s why a 10ER isn’t possible without a new (very expensive) landing gear.

I'd imagine they will take their 268t A350s on order without retiring any 777s. Down the road, when the 77E needs to be replaced, they can get more A350s. When the 77L comes up for replacement in ~10-15 years, they can get higher rated A350s. (or whatever is on offer in 10-15 years)

The 77W is still a very capable and efficient aircraft. Just because it doesn’t match 78J or A35K doesn’t mean it’s not still a good aircraft. Good that Boeing is getting more orders to bridge the gap to the X.

American with the A350. That was a big deal

Delta and the 787. That would have looked so good.

I heard that BA was seriously considering the 748, and if RR engines were offered, they would likely be in the fleet today.
