The aircraft operating VA694 VH-XFH currently has an ETOPS related issue hence the longer flight. The flight path changes regarding VH-QPA is certainly interesting. Seems like today it positioned empty from BNE-SYD and then operated QF23 to BKK. Could anyone more educated in the field of ETOPS technical operations suggest as to what the actual issue was that could result in ETOPS non-compliance?

Tonight's QF494 MEL-SYD landed in SYD at about 2302. I can't find anything in the curfew act that would justify it landing after 2300 on 34L which is in the curfew shoulder period and can't imagine on what grounds they would have received dispensation. Appears that more long haul flights are getting the fuel they need now. Judging by QF to HKG, UA to LAX, and several SIN bound flights. Perhaps it'll be all over soon?
