PER got 4x Condor 767s within 4 hours a few weeks back, not ever in my strangest dreams could anybody of predicted that.Jump to post
I recall it only being a few months ago it was looking increasingly likely Qantas would keep their 747s for longer than announced.
I'll forever be grateful for the short time they ran on SYD/PER sectors in mid-late 2018, which gave me an opportunity to log two before today.

The Shorts 360 (or the Xbox 360 as me and a friend used to call it) looks very strange, though I can't outright hate it.
I'm honestly not too fond of the ATL98 Carvair, though it isn't commercial.
A few quick points on my part: A rejoin referendum would be electoral suicide if implemented as part of the UK Labour platform for at least the next two election cycles, if there's a way to remain uncompetitive in North-East England & Wales, this is it. The looming demographic crisis to be faced...Jump to post
Don't most commercial aircraft already pollute less per passenger then most cars? It's not even close according to some sources: https://www.greenmatch.dk/blog/2016/03/saa-meget-bruger-du-i-co2-naar-du-rejser 223 grams of CO2 per km when you travel by plane vs 160 grams for a car and 37 grams for a...Jump to post

Also stating the obvious here, but you can't run trains over the ocean and there aren't a whole lot of battery powered boats that can get you from Perth to New York etc. in any reasonable time frame.

There are a few reports of SAA in financial trouble, which has been the case for a few years. It's a nice livery but it looks a little too cluttered, I would much prefer if the big 100 was smaller and placed under the Qantas titles, similar to the old livery VH-QPA used to wear back in 2015. 2677127 What I do like, however, is the historic logos, extended red underbelly and the name "Lo...Jump to post

Seeing several isolated Siberian towns out the window of a CX 777 whilst flying JFK-HKG.
Mountains of New Zealand flying out of Christchurch.
Not sure if this counts, but seeing Lake Eyre from a dedicated scenic flight back in July was pretty special.
I've noticed several inconsistencies whilst travelling within Australia. The most notable one is removing my belt, I'm pretty much always asked to take it off when going through security in Perth, but rarely ever in Sydney. There's also a time I forgot to take my spray deodorant out of my backpack i...Jump to post

Despite not being in the same city I have also flown out of MTL & CES, which have a shorter distance between them then all the airports aforementioned.
PER has an indoor observation deck overlooking T1, complete with restrooms & vending machines, it can actually be nice to spend a few hours there, there's also an ourdoor deck at the end of 03/21 where I watched the AN225 & inaugural PER-LHR service, its got a nice view but the design of the...Jump to post

In Perth, aside from occasional freighters, yes.
747 pax service to Perth has slowly decreased with no regular flights since 2012. Qantas did a few 747 flights between SYD-PER (which I was lucky enough to fly on) throughout September last year, but since that they're gone.
A sad day indeed, makes you wonder how long airlines will keep them in service beyond 2021.
I'm very glad i'v been able to fly on atleast one (SQ863 HKG-SIN back in 2016), and i'm looking forward to flying many more in the future.
I noticed on Airbus' order books there is an order from MACQUARIE FINANCIAL HOLDINGS PTY LIMITED. The order is for 40 A220-300 and 20 A320neo.
