New York: EWR, LGA, JFK
Perth: PER, JAD
Despite not being in the same city I have also flown out of MTL & CES, which have a shorter distance between them then all the airports aforementioned.
PER has an indoor observation deck overlooking T1, complete with restrooms & vending machines, it can actually be nice to spend a few hours there, there's also an ourdoor deck at the end of 03/21 where I watched the AN225 & inaugural PER-LHR service, its got a nice view but the design of the...Jump to post
I observed a situation that happened on an Air Canada Q400 YUL-YQB flight back in 2017. A couple where claiming that some other passengers where in their assigned seats, they decided to compare boarding passes and in fact both groups of passengers had the same seats allocated. The difference was tha...Jump to post

In Perth, aside from occasional freighters, yes.
747 pax service to Perth has slowly decreased with no regular flights since 2012. Qantas did a few 747 flights between SYD-PER (which I was lucky enough to fly on) throughout September last year, but since that they're gone.
A sad day indeed, makes you wonder how long airlines will keep them in service beyond 2021.
I'm very glad i'v been able to fly on atleast one (SQ863 HKG-SIN back in 2016), and i'm looking forward to flying many more in the future.
I noticed on Airbus' order books there is an order from MACQUARIE FINANCIAL HOLDINGS PTY LIMITED. The order is for 40 A220-300 and 20 A320neo. Anyone think these are for an Aussie airline? 40 A220s would cover for the combined fleet of 37 717s & Fokkers currently operated by QF. I doubt they're...Jump to post

Im currently on VA96 from CHC-MEL, we just diverted to LST. New experience for me as i've never been on a diverted flight, VA have been great handling the unforeseen circumstances. On a SIN-PER Scoot flight two years ago I was sat next to a bloke who I assume booked 2 seats for himself, he took off his shoes and socks and rested his bare feet towards me for a little under half the flight. PER-LHR for Qantas, London has always been a focus city for QF and to be able to fly it direct from Australia after having to make stops every year since the 50's is quite revolutionary, its also their most profitable route and not to mention a route that really pushes the 787 to its limits, having ...Jump to post

Qantas would be the airline I feel the most connected to, my first flight (DRW-PER), first international (SYD-AKL), first intercontinental (SYD-BKK) and first long haul (BKK-LHR) flights where all with them. QF also leased a BA 744 at this time also VH-NLH (never leaves the hangar) - operated in a hybrid livery with BA config. I remember that aircraft. OEB is surely the next QF 747 to go into retirement, it's amazing to think they've kept her around longer than they did with OJT (a newer and refurbished aircraft retired only yesterday).Jump to post
I didn't record any flights prior to 2014 so I have no way of knowing for certain but I can clearly remember doing SYD-BKK-LHR & return on the Qantas 747. Also considering the amount of times I flew SYD-PER & SYD-SIN/BKK-LHR in the 2000s I think it's very likely i'v flown on quite a few, not...Jump to post

As the 747s are replaced by the 787s it opens up a lot of questions about routes like HND where the 787 is simply too small for QF to make the most out of it. I'd expect some of the free A330s being used to restart SYD-NRT to operate alongside a SYD-HND 787. I believe that QF will inevitably purchas...Jump to post
