If you have a confirmed seat on that flight it could be that it is under airport control and seats will be assigned at checkin. I know that sucks when you want a certain seat. Also might be a good chance that the flight is oversold and you could get a free tix or travel voucher out of it.

I would say all airlines do some sort of tankering. Especially if gas is cheapier at the departure city or if the destination city is having supply problems. The extra weight does cause some problems and they may even have to bump pax

My Brother got his Premier Exec card two weeks ago and I have yet to get mine. Even though we qualified for Premier Exec on Dec 8. I have taken 25 UA flights so far this yr with my expired Premier card. Maybe it comes from India.
