Having flown both the A340 and 787 (With LAN/LATAM Airlines), I did feel the A340 to be quieter and smoother than the 787. I will surely miss the old four-holer.

Flight Numbers with letters

Hey guys

Last night, while checking on Flightradar24, I noticed LA532 with an added Z, making it LA532 Zulu. In the past, while hearing ATC Comms, I've heard X-ray and others added to flight numbers. Why is it? Additional flights?

Speaking of the A220...

Seeing how likely a big order from Air France is, in order to replace their A318s, A319s and A320s, do you see other airlines going the same way, specially given how few A319NEOs have been ordered?

I was hoping Avianca, but that seems unlikely given their present status.

(Not sure if it belongs here or in TechOps.) Keep in mind that SDU has the shortest runways in the world on which Boeing and Airbus aircraft...the longer 2R/20L is just 4,340 feet (1,323 meters). This would basically kill whatever business case remains for an A319neo as the A320neo can operate from...

Maybe not that related, but in the early 90's here in Chile there was a "Copa Aeroflot", which was a Football tournament in which Colo Colo, Club Deportivo O'Higgins de Rancagua, Hungary's National Football team and FC Shinnik Yaroslavl from the Soviet Union played in Santiago and Rancagua.

LAN/TAM rebranding to LATAM has taken forever, specially on it's Airbus fleet. They must have a really busy fleet and maybe they just can't afford to have a few planes on the ground for such an extended period of time.

Switching engine provider

Some 20 or so years ago, I remember that, when LAN Chile ordered their first A320s and A319s, they came with the, then less common, IAE engines. But, since 2011, they switched their orders to CFM equipped A319s and A320s. I never knew why and I thought it was a bit uneconomical to go from one engine...
